Less than 3 Euros to ride the elevator up the hill and see this intriguing castle/fortress. Can be hot walking around outdoors but there are rooms with exhibits you can enter to cool off a bit. Great views from the top.

Stayed at Melia Alicante and the Castle Santa Barbara is just over the road. Great place full of historical artefacts. Awesome views across Alicante when you get to the top. Also its very very hot at the top so make sure you wear a high factor. Laos quite a bit of walking and steep inclines so may not be advisable... More

We took the lift up from the beach (2.70 Euros each) and it was well worth it. It was really hot and the alternative is a long uphill walk. From the top you get a fantastic view in all directions.

You have a fabulous attraction. Great views. What lets it down is very little english on displays. I didnt get the feel of what life was like in the castle or the history. We decided to walk down through the gardens but the signs were non existent. Took real determination to find the path. generally you could miss a lot... More

Definitely worth a visit. There's a lift to the top of castle. Can walk around huge fort and there are amazing vistas of surrounding Alicante. Very beautiful views and interesting areas, rooms and nooks!

You get the best views from the castle. The lift is only 2.70 per person. There are no other charges to see this magnificent place.

worth it if you're in Alicante to visit the Castle of Santa Barbara. It sits on a mountain top and has a very nice view. It is not wheelchair friendly. You go with a lift up the mountain.
