It was a nice stop in Alicante. Absolutely amazing views, ruins itself are interesting. There is a small market with handcrafts. We waited for the elevator some minutes (do not understand why they allow only 6 people, when it says that capacity is 15?!), but it was a good break from the heat outside.

This is the castle that dominates the skyline of Alicante. It is well worth a visit for the views afforded of Alicante and the surrounding area. It is free entry but if you use the lift from the beach it is a couple of euros to reach the top.

The visit to the castle was very nice and a lot to see. The view over the city is amazing. The only downside were not so amazing toilets.

The Castillo Santa Barbara is perched on a rock overlooking the city and bay of Alicante and is very impressive - definitely worth a visit, but take the bus/car as the walk/climb up in Spanish heat is not for the faint hearted. Fabulous views and the castle itself is in great shape - super for kids or for adults who... More

Very well done and preserved. Would not like to walk up in the heat, just as well there is a lift. Drinks available at the top. We got the lift down as well as it was so hot but the walk down may be a wonderful option.

You can take the open top tour bus or the lift. If you take the open top bus check the last one otherwise you might have a long walk back to your destination! Lift is just across the road from the beech and free after 7pm in the summer otherwise there is a small charge. Wonderful views and excellent photographic... More

Having an escalator built into the mountain to take you up is great. Cost 2.70 euros each. Views are spectacular and there is a little cafe for drinks on a hot day. We did not spend much time there as we felt it lacked atmosphere but worth doing if you want to get away from the beach for a bit.

Amazing view. Well worth a visit. Cafes and stalls at the top. We took the lift up and walked down. Beautiful. Wish there was more literature/information in english.

A must see in Alicante. The castle can be reached by elevator or by walking. We took the elevator up and walked down on One of many paths. The view from the castle is panoramic 360•, and it is a lot to see. If you take a step off the common walk you may find fossiles in the ground and... More

Big (I think) medieval castle in the middle of alicante. You can drive a good chunk of the way up if you can find the entrance, Tte parking is FREE. Good little trek up to the top, great views of the city, stunning views of the mountains. If your walking apparently there is a lift from the road to the... More
