Tip - use the lift as it's a long haul up in the heat of the day. Great for views of the area and good photo opportunities.

The castle is well worth visit, it's a long walk from street level (167m), there is a lift, I would recommend for the elderly or young children, it was 32 degrees the day we visited, fantastic views from the top all around Alicante. There are several craft stalls if you want to buy a gift.

This is a good program to climb up to the hill. There are several small routes you can explore (not so well signed), many terracces to have a rest and drink water while shoot some photos. The quality of the routes are good and you can have water at the parks on the way up. The castle is interesting too.... More

We walked up the back of the castle. There is a lift opposite the beach, but we wanted a walk and it also saves paying! Once at the top the views are great. You can walk around quite a lot at the top and see various parts of the caste remains. If in the area, definitely venture up the caste.... More

We chickened out of the climb and paid the €2.70 each to take the elevator to the castle. It might seem a bit pricey to go up but it was well worth it in the heat. The castle itself is quite well preserved and the views are spectacular. I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't more of an effort... More

Decent castle, worth the visit. If you want to get the lift it costs about €2.90 per person but free after 7,45pm (be prepared for a long wait when it's free - the lift only takes 7 perople at a time! We were there around 6 and was way quieter). Great views over Alicante and a couple of shops and... More
