Wonderful. Quiet and peaceful at this time. Our walk up had been without signs to tell your where to go or don't drop litter or fall over the side. Firm underfoot and well maintained route. Great place to explore and find out how fit you are and all at a Yorkshire Price!

There's actually *two* routes going up the castle, if you only go up one you miss out the fantastic views on the site and the gardens which are facing old town. I recommend going up the route that first faces the city then going through the other route (via the road) that goes up the castle. Saying that there's also... More

Lift ride up to the castle about 5 euro's, little disorganised, directions, info etc, sure we missed a lot, but loved the place, warning, lot of walking, steps, hills once up there.

Amazing! Definitely worth a visit if you have a couple of hours to walk around the castle and enjoy breathtaking views of Alicante.

From Hotel Maya you can walk to the Castle for 20 minutes or if you don't like to walk, opposite the beach you can take an elevator which will take you to the top of the hill. Entrance at the Castle is free, they charge only for the elevator.

It is a nice trek up to the top with great views of the sea and the city of Alicante. It reminds me a little of El Morro in San Juan, PR since they were probably built about the sametime. Typical of the old forts of this era.

Enjoyed taking the lift up to the Castle. We were visiting during the holiday period and so a number of tours were not available. It was still a worthwhile visit. The weather was beautiful and the views stunning. We enjoyed the walk back down into the old town with it's lovely alleyways.

This castle overlooks the city of Alicante and is definitely worth a visit if only for the views. It can be accessed by vehicles and apparently there is a lift for the final descent, so quite accessible even for the less able. You need to be relatively fit to walk up as it's very steep with both paths and stairs... More
