Peter is a great little town. An interesting break away from the coast in Alicante. Lovely sleepy (during siesta in mid summer) town in mid-summer to walk around. Great walks in the surrounding country/hills/mountains.

We visited the Petrer Tourist Information office in search of a map, instead we were given a bag of goodies and a personalised 2hr-guided tour of the castle and Moorish houses. The locals were so friendly and the lady from the information office took the time to take us through and explain the history of the place to us -... More

Petrer is a nice town close to Alicante, nice people, beautiful streets and nice places to eat, still my favorite town around Alicante is Altea but Petrer is closer.

This is very mch acommercial area servicing residents and holidaymkers from the outlying areas. There is a large supermarket seelin everthing one needs and also local businesses provide just about every item required for the house. There are several small rstuarants where a meal of the day can be obtained at very reasonable prices

The town, and indeed that of Elda, are of such utter drabness that I would be hard pressed to suggest any possible reason for visiting them. That said, there's some wonderful countryside within twenty minutes' drive of their ugliness. Give the towns a miss, and head instead for somewhere like Xorret de Cati.
