We decided to begin the hike by riding on the cable car to get a good leg up on the walk.

When we exited the cable car we saw toilets straight ahead - and decided that it would be a good plan to use them not knowing what we’d find along the trail. Because of their location they were quite... More

This was a beautiful area to explore with friends. The cherry blossoms were amazing. The hike to the cable car was good and the views at the top were fabulous! Well worth the visit.

We took the ropeway down from the mountain, it was a nice and safe ride down. A great way to rest after the hike up.

The cable car is an option to the chair lift either up or down Mt Takao. Its very safe. The ride is about 8 minutes down the mountain. They have limited seats but they do allow riders to stand in the car,

This short ride really lives up to the promise -- it becomes very steep at the end. Hold on tight! One elderly lady didn't bother to sit down at the beginning when the slope was quite flat, but then was holding on for dear life at the end. There are other options to get up the mountain, such as the... More

5 minute walk from Train Station and takes you half way up the mountain and drops you off at the Monkey Park and trail to Temple. Hint - purchase round trip at bottom to avoid long line at the top.

If you can get in first and occupy the first seat , you can get an idea of how steep it is. We sat in the second seat but somewhere midway, I stood near the front rail to get a better view. After alighting, be sure to take a good look below.

We decided to take the cable car so we could save time and energy hiking with our toddler. It was well worth the money. A short ride and we were at the top. We did decide to walk down the mountain and I wish we had just taken the ride back down.

Decided to visit Mt. Takao on a Sunday morning. It was an easy train ride from KeioHachioji Station. Arrived around 10:30am and while there was a steady stream of people it didn't feel crowded. Waited only 10 minutes to board the Cable Car. Wished I had gotten a seat facing uphill. Definitely recommend getting a seat facing uphill. Went to... More

The area is mountainous with tall stands of trees, therefore hiking on a hot day is comfortable. There are numerous sites to see along the way such a a large temple complex. The end of the trail (about 7-8 hours), which I have not yet attempted has a large white horse monument intended to encourage hikers into the area. The... More
