Wow!!!! We enjoyed the game drive in Dinokeng, a big 5 game reserve just 40min drive from Pretoria and 1 hour drive from Johannesburg.

I didn't know a place with a Big 5 existed just outside Pretoria. Wow! Had an amazing experience at Halfway There. To the bartender, Aaron thanks man for the hospitality. I will be back!

Dinokeng was our first encounter with African game. And a thrilling one. We were lucky enough to see elephants, rhinos, giraffes and plenty of different species of antilopes. Many birds. Though not as big as the other parks we have visited later it was a very good introduction to the Fauna.

I was a little sceptical about visiting this so-called 'Big 5 Game reserve' so close to home because I was expecting another type of Marloth Park which would not keep my interest for long. How wrong I was! This is like a (reasonable!) piece of the Kruger National Park right on your doorstep, having all kinds of animals roaming free... More

Being my first time in Africa and not having the time to run up to Kruger Park like I had hoped to, I found this gem. I wish i would have stayed at the lodge! The drive was beautiful in the reserve and our driver and tracker very nice. Although we didn't see some of the animals we hoped for... More

Some friends who were visiting and I decided to visit this game reserve especially since it boasted having the big 5 and a new self-drive option that just opened in December of last year. It was nice that it was only 30 minutes from Pretoria, but then we didn't know that it was another ~10k to get to the actual... More

Although elephants and cheetahs were spotted while we were there, we never got to see them or any of the Big 5. Maybe next time!

We have had 3 stays in Dinokeng Game Reserve to date, 1st time was at Mangwa Lodge, 2nd was De Rust campsite and 3rd at Koedoesrus. All 3 have their individual appeal depending on what you want to get from a bush escape...the camping option brings one so much closer to the Africa and the early settlers way of life.... More

We had a fun day at Dinokeng shortly after their opening on the day game drives. Saw lots of wildlife, but not any big 5 unfortunately. Since the 4x4 trails were still new, some signposting was incomplete. We got a little bit lost to say the least and ended up with a flat tire (or 2 actually). Luckily the game... More

We spend 4 hours in the rewerve with our own 4X4, I have to say that the reserve is beatiful, nice sunny and worm day but the only things missing were thw wild animals. We saw a couple of giraffes, some zebras and a couple of other animals but not enough in 4 hours driving....
