Take in the cool, fresh air of this famous Aomori river that is fed from Lake Towada. Lots of waterfalls supplying lot of negative air ionization (apparently has health benefits!) and great photo opportunities. Suggest you visit early morning to avoid the tour groups in the daytime. It is also the quietest and most reflective time of day. Suggest hiring... More

Along the 14km stream, there are well-maintained walkways on either side. there are many spots of waterfalls, rapids, vegetation on rocks etc, which are all good elements for photography.

We got there on early April, so the snow just melted and there had not been any blossoms yet. The water was running in a small stream. It was the first time i see snow.

4 Nov we strolled along the stream, few people and few cars ,which was good. Amazingly tons of water falls and swift streams .leaves were already fell off.we could see sceneries deep through the stream. so despite avoiding busy season you can visit here early november.we took pictures.

A walk along this waterway leading out of Lake Towada is a must if you're visiting this area. There are a series of small waterfalls, and a couple of not-so-small waterfalls as well, as the water makes its way through this little gorge. Watch out for falling rocks, and in the autumn, falling acorns!

Lake Towada is a lovely place, so serene and peaceful in a country where the most scenic places are often over- commercialized. Well worth a walk round--in fact, one of the few things to do in this truly laid-back spot. (You can walk round from the town out to see the Maidens statue and these shrine.) Good for jogging or...
