4 Nov 2014 it turned up to clear from yesterday, all red and yellow leaves were already fallen off ,wfich was a dissapointing ,but the stream itself was fantastic and breashtaking. The peak of traffic-jam was over ,so smooth traffic and few people were even though strolling along the stream.we were driving a car seeing left and right ,because a lot... More

There are quite a few buses to Lake Towada. The cost of the entire trip to towadako is 3090yen which can be paid on the bus or you can purchase a ticket before boarding. However, if you are at the bus terminal station, the bus driver would want an advance ticket purchase. There are various stops along the way and... More

beautiful in autumn. We parked the car at Nenukuchi, took the bus to around Ishigedo and walked 2.5 hours back. Easy walk. The only thing to be careful is the passing cars when the trail is on the main road.

as usual everything in japan is well prepared and designed...explanations everywhere and you can walk for 10 or 15 km and then return with the local bus when the rains hit.

Awesome hike in early July! We drove 5.3 km beyond the hotel at Yakeyama and parked at Ishigedo (but arrive early for a space, as they are in short supply!). From there we walked a total of 8.9 km at a steady but unhurried pace. Anyone in decent physical shape can do it. The only equipment required are a backpack,... More

It was beautiful. I stayed in Yasumiya, a small town with the end terminal of the buses servicing the area (in bus schedules, Yasumiya is reflected as Towadako). The first bus out of Yasumiya is around 9am everyday, and I took that bus to Oirase. The idea is to stop at a particular stop along Oirase, hike a distance, then... More

Went there in late May by JR bus from Aomori station. The journey went uphill at first and passed some forest which was still covered with snow. The bus stopped at some of the onsen hotels which are also sightseeing spots. The bus journey is a pleasant one. We started walking from Makadoiwa and very soon we reached the pictorial... More

奥入瀬 a mountain stream, the only outlet of 十和田湖. In autumn, the trail alongside the stream that stretches from Ishigedo to Nenoguchi burns, with flames that bedazzles. Yellow, orange, brown and green of the trees burned deep into my retina.  If Autumn is about falling leaves, Oirase stream's Autumn is about fire, water and earth. Two points of departure, Aomori... No time for lunch. We brought two apples, and enjoyed it with the beautiful stream. That was very good memory.
