We visited on a so-called VIP group arrangement of 16 Euros per person during a team awayday. We were received very well with outstanding coffee and outright delicious local cake in the pleasant cafe inside the sanctuary. Then we were given a good tour in English, including some behind the scenes views, by one of the professional staff of the... More

Great initiative and the seals are too cute for words! Go there with or without your little ones. We enjoyed it very much.

Took train from Groningen to Baflo and biked from there. Amazing ride, and beautiful to arrive in Pieterburen. The Zeehonds Crèche was really enjoyable with good displays and plenty of cuteness abounding. Over run with the wee humans, but obviously that is a large part of their audience. However it would be nice as an adult to have adult interest levels... More

It wasn't really worth it for what we had to pay (8 euros). Moreover, it is also a bit far from Groningen. It is a good activity to be combined with something else.

This is a really lovely place to visit with young children, we visited with 6, 5,4 and 3 year old children. It was a cold and blustery day when we went but that did not detract from the joy of the day as there is plenty to do indoors as well as outside. The video is worth seeing - i... More

The "Zeehondencreche Pieterburen" is a centre for aid to seals. The main purpose is to heal, help, and put back seals in nature. Surrounding this is a visitor's centre in which you can get information about the activities. Most of the information is in dutch. There are sheets with info in other languages. In the small movie theater they play... More

Everybody in The Netherlands knows the Zeehondencreche of Lenie 't Hart. It's a lot smaller than we thought it would be but it is very educative. Especially for children.

If you are from the netherlands you must have heard from Pieterburen and their Zeehonden Creche. If you are in the aera you must visit this place...once. It is smaller then expected and you can not come very close to the animals (after the visit you know why). The centre gives you good information about the current situation, the past... More

This place gets four stars because of the good it is doing for seals. Like dogs, seals get into lots of trouble that is further exacerbated by man.. i.e. they get fishing nets wrapped around their heads that cut into them as they grow. This organization helps rehabilitate such seals. They have seals from all ages in multiple pens. While... More

First of all, it is a rehabilitation center for seals not a seal park with attractions. If you keep your expectations realistic, you will enjoy. I went on Sunday with my husband and very young children. To our surprise it was open, something rare in Calvinist Nederland. We learnt a lot about this great work and how unsustainable tourism contributes... More
