We visited Alona beach. I'm glad we didn't stay there. It's full of people trying to sell tours? Food, and massages. We did enjoy our time there. We found some souviners, had a drink and enjoyed the amazing sunset. We used a tricycle to get there (Bio-015) that was a great experience! I would recommend checking out the beach area... More

This was our second visit to Alona Beach. Although it is more developed now, it still has a great atmosphere. Gone are the shell and necklace sellers who used to hassle you ten years ago. You still have the masseuses calling out to you as you walk past but they are not "in your face". There are hawkers selling boat... More

Alona is a place where you can find everything you need - food, drinks, some small tourist shopping, handicrafts etc. but if you need a beach - it is not about Panglao in general. on Alona you can rent sun-beds and swim in between the numerous boats into the sea. If you need a real sandy beach - as to... More

If you are going to go out to Cebu, especially the Mactan area, this place is much better. I wouldn't say the beach is great but there are lots of nice restaurants and places to hang out around there. Great place to go to hang out with friends. There is actually a private beach about 10 to 15 minutes on... More

I have read all of the 'terrible' reviews and agree with many of them, this is definitely not a beach for relaxation and swimming, the ludicrous litter of moored boats kill off any sensible use of the water, the sea urchins and over commericalisation do the rest! It's okay for a drink or a coffee in the afternoon and fun... More

We absolutely loved it, don't go to Bohol for the chocolate hills and Tarsiers go for Panglao Island! Alona Beach is such a cool little spot, with a few quirky bars and a chilled out vibe it's a great place to relax and unwind or hit the booze and have a wild one! Easy to do a day trip to... More

Nice beach, but very crowded, full of massage huts, shops and restaurants. Clear water, depth is ok for swimming, but many seagrass with sea urchins. Also many sea stars.

Nice sand but lots of seaweed on the shoreline. Wish they would clean up more. Thankfully not too much trash. Lots of watercraft which go up almost to shore delivering visitors. The pros of accessibility vs cons of traffic. Hotels, restaurants and shops on shore. Blaring loud music and some nightlife.

Alona Beach is really nice! We went to Boracay and that is nice too. Alona has a smaller beach but it is like a smaller version of Boracay. And Bohol has a lot more interesting sites and activities. So, we will go back to Alona and NOT to Boracay.
