This cruise really is a "must do" for anyone on holiday in the area . Many will come for The Jacobite steam train but this cruise merits equal ranking in my view and is worth a substantial detour. You will learn so much about local history and the native wildlife while seeing spectacular scenery unfold on both sides of you as... This is our second year in the highlands and it would not be complete without a trip out with Jim, he is an amazing host and really knows his stuff, we seen Golden Eagles, Northern Black Throated Divers and the best of all White Tailed Sea Eagles, a cruise along loch shiel with Jim is a must for anyone in... Had the pleasure of a full Loch Tour on Wed 1/4/15 with Jim and Colin AKA Candle. ha ha. I could not have picked a better tour to have gone on, Jim was an absolutely brilliant skipper and knows so much about the loch and is such a friendly guy into the bargain. The boat itself has such a history... More

We particularly wanted to see Gaskan, the Wilderness home of Author Mike Tomkies for 13yrs. Pre holiday I emailed Jim to check we could take our 3 Border Terriers on board. Very quickly received a lovely reply and no problems taking the dogs. We did the Wednesday full day cruise on a lovely warm sunny day. The boat is well... More

this cruise leaves from Glenfinnan just outside the hotel. They offer various cruises, one hour, two or 2,5 hours. We did the Wednesday one, going the whole stretch of the loch. The one hour one affords you to have a look at the steamtrain crossing the viaduct. Jim, the skipper, is an old hand and tells a great, not too... More

In the programme of a visit to the West Highlands with my husband and two other people I included a cruise on Loch Shiel as a diversion, partly to see some new scenery accompanied by an expert, and partly to give my husband a rest from driving. I must say that we thoroughly enjoyed it! Jim was extremely pleasant, first... More

Loch Shiel is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful of Scottish Lochs, the cruise itself was the most reasonably priced and interesting I've been on. If you only go on one Scottish Loch this would be the one to choose!

we booked a private 2 hour charter with Captain Jim for our wedding day. We had 20 guests who loved it. Jim gave commentary and pointed out a pair of golden eagles. Would highly recommended a cruise, great value.

Jim provides an interesting and informative commentary and is a considerate host. He is also quick.to see and point out the wildlife on the shores of the Loch. This year was our third visit and we will be back next year. Thanks Jim :-)
