We did the Glenaladale cruise on the last day of the season for these wonderful cruises on Loch Shiel. Even though there were just the two of us booked on the cruise, Jim had no hesitation in taking us out. We had a marvelous cruise halfway down the loch, which included watching the jacobite steam train go over the viaduct.... More

When we started the cruise the most was so thick we couldn't see anything in front of us. So missed seeing the train going over the viaduct. However once the mists began to lift we could see the spectacular scenery. Well worth the money for two hour cruise. We hot hot chocolate and shortbread too. Serve yourself from the little... More

We took the Gaskan cruise one sunny afternoon in August. Jim, the boat owner advised us to make use of the warm blankets he provides as there was a cool wind coming down the loch. He also provides binoculars to aid in spotting the local wildlife on the hills and in the air as the boat motors along. Jim provides... More

Jim, the skipper, pays attention to detail in making his trip clients as comfortable as possible. A warm welcome, tea, coffee, alcoholic drinks and snacks, blankets and books written about the local area add to the wonderful scenery and his informative commentary. We did the full day Wednesday trip up the loch to Acharacle. We were very lucky with the... More

Had my second loch Shiel cruise of the year with captain Jim last monday 14 sept and it was wonderful. With the weather perfect it made a cruise worth remembering, we even spotted some high soaring eagles. Jim the boat owner is a very friendly chap who goes out of his way to ensure his passengers enjoy themselves, he,s so... More

We stayed 2 hours on the boat, entertained by Jim the owner, a very friendly guide who explained the life of the loch, the surrounding mountains, the wildlife. The weather was not brilliant, but there is a bar (quite cute) on board where you can get a hot drink and shortbread to keep you warm ! Even under dull weather,... More

Pity about the weather but the trip with Jim was a delight. He could not have done more to make us welcome on board his beautifully restored launch. His knowledge of wildlife and the Loch was superb. Any visit to Glenfinnan should not miss a trip.

We decided to take this two hour cruise of Loch Shiel, despite the overcast skies and the threat of rain. This cruise was one of the highlights of our visit to Scotland as we were able to experience the natural beauty of Loch Shiel and its environs. Although the threatened rain did arrive, ( in sudden, drenching bursts throughout the... More

My husband and I recently enjoyed a day out on Loch Shiel. The boat dock is a quick walk from the Glenfinnan House Hotel and in walking distance of the Glenfinnan Memorial. The whether was spectacular and we were able to enjoy the breathtaking views and see wildlife. We were lucky to see both red deer and the golden eagle.... More
