What a beautiful place to visit. Stopped off in drive through to Porto to this beautiful little town. Very well kept gardens and water fountains. Great shopping with ancient bridge. Definitely stop into the town and stay a night or two

I was mid-way through "The Bridge on the Drina" when I visited the site itself. If you haven't read the book then this is just a very beautiful bridge, but with the added context from the book it becomes so much more. It's worth a visit just to sit and contemplate humanity. The bridge was closed for works when I... More

This bridge is an important part of the Bosnian history, which was very well described by Ivo Andrić in the Nobel prize awarded roman "The Bridge on the Drina". Today the bridge is still in wonderful condition. You can take a walk across it and maybe look other attractions of this charming town. Hint: read the book before visiting Višegrad.
