Great train ride

Stunning views along the Duoro. Regional music provided by local performers added a unique experience during the train ride.

This is a nice a pitoresque rail station that is located in the heart of the Port Wine region little town: Pinhão. It's a very small one and has a nice wine shop/bar that you can relax. The most interesting point about this station is that you can see awesome Portuguese style tiles on the exterior walls. This is also... More

We booked this Historic train trip in August 2014. We were disappointed that the 'historic' train was not a steam train, as it looked in all the photos we saw. But the carriages were lovely and it was great that the old windows went all the way down so we could take photos. Make sure you book the right side... More

It takes the whole day and is definitely worth it! The scenery is magnificient with Douro river and portwine yards. The old stations are full of feeling and the train has lovely wooden decoration. There were a small food market at Tua station (possibility to buy jams etc. to bring home). The last train of 2014 had quite an amount... More

The best place to get aboard the steam train is in the beautiful town of Pinhão station, famous for its Wonderful tiles panels representing the harvest in the Douro. within the station is a wine boutique where you can taste the delicious port wine

You pay 45 € for a trip that in a regular train is about 5 € and the only diference is the traditional singers along the way, a glass of port and a piece of bôla (traditional kind of bread). In the regular train the speed is the same, the view is the same and you can go more far... More
