Quinta da Aveleda wine is very good, so I've already knew I had to visit the place. We arrived a little bit late, the last group had already started the visit, but they were very kind and let us join them. The visit is very simple, through the main attractions (the big eucalypt, the guard house, the goats tower, the... More

We did a tour of the vineyard and gardens and the guide did extremely well giving out information in English, Portuguese and Spanish. She explains everything and the gardens of the house are extensive and very interesting. This was followed by a wine tasting with some cheese nibbles. My only slight complaint is that we were only offered 2 wines... More

We visited Quinta de Aveleda on the 8th July. Christina was our guide and it was most pleasant to walk through the grounds and learn about the vineyard, winery and the family who own it. We really liked going into the room where the brandy is kept, it has an exceptionally rich aroma. Gorgeous, we even bought a bottle in... More

An exceptional visitor attraction comprising vineyards, winery and superb shaded gardens containing many exotic plants and trees, all for the princely sum of 5 euros admission. The pace of life here is so leisurely that the visitor to this northern part of Portugal could be forgiven for losing half a day, just sampling the excellent green wines and resting in... More

The park was beautiful and worth the visit. The folks working there need a few days off as they weren't very thrilled about having to do their jobs...or maybe they need new management to change the atmosphere? Shame as it is a great estate, just lacked the positive attitude one would expect from such a fabulous location.

This is a nice change from normal sightseeing walking round shady gardens on a hot day. The tasting was of a white and a rose, both generous glasses, and a good plate of cheese. My only comment would be that it would have been better to halve the size of the white and rose and then be able to taste... More

This is one of the best value attractions I have ever visited. 5 euros per person for guided tour or great gardens and it includes a very generous wine tasting session.

On an uncharacteristically hot day for June in North Portugal, this was a welcome oasis. It was the start of hydrangea season, and some of the blossoms were immense. The garden is very well designed, but what caught everyone's eye was a newborn goat--the smallest I've ever seen. The wine was good enough to make me resolve to track some... More
