First ,Quinta de Aveleda Wine is an old etate from 16th century. We were received us with the special Portuguese hospitality and we walked through the beautiful gardens, listened a lot of history behind the property, tried the famous wine (among them Casal Garcia, which I know for 40 years, from Brazil). Despite they had a big group of tourist, we... More

This winery set in a beautiful garden with picturesque buildings was a real find. We had our own very friendly and informative guide and we got to hear the story of the family and taste delicious wines. The shop had a great selection of products as well.

Beautiful location with extensive gardens where you can sample the local wines, one of which, Grinalda, is kosher. In addition to brandy, they also offer vihno verde, "green wine," which is a young white wine that is very fruity. Ask for Christina for a wonderful guide.

Quinta da Aveieda is an old English garden, full of magnificent trees, flowers and interesting buildings. Local wine sampling after the tour - with home made cheese and crackers. We had lunch before the tour at Casa do Feitor in Penafiel. It was an excellent meal, cooked by the hostess and served by her daughter, with Vino Verde accompanying the... More

This family-owned estate in the countryside about a half-hour outside of Porto is known for two things: its beautiful gardens and the wine produced there, a white variety called "vinho verde". While the gardens are indeed charming, they are in themselves not worth the trip out to the estate and the visit: typical of many 19th century high bourgeois and... More

During a recent month in Portugal, we fell in love with their wines which are not really imported into the US. We drove to the winery and took a tour of the facility. The gardens are gorgeous, well manicured with buildings, water, pleasant paths, and we leaned a lot about the history of the family as well as the process.... More

We had a bit of trouble finding it, but it was worth the trip. Absolutely beautiful grounds. Our guide was excellent and very interesting to talk to. I took so many pictures. The Vinho Verde was quite good and very nice with a little plate of cheese. Only down side is they don't serve food and they have so many... More

Vinho Verde is an interesting young wine - I had better ones but the story how they grow make it is interesting and well done during the tour of the winery. The garden itself is lovely mainly in spring.

Like finding out that cans of tuna come from a majestic ocean fish, the solid but humble vinho verde is mass produced on a privately-held property of stunning beauty and history. After a lovely walk on the grounds, it was such a delight to sit in their tasting room, enjoying wine and the fantastic cheese they produce from their own... More

Very nice visit and the staff was very welcoming. Went there on a Sunday and unfortunately I was not able to visit the bottling facility 'cause, naturally, it was closed. Just the gardens it is worth the visit. If you would like a complete tour go on a weekday but do not forget to schedule it. Go to the website.
