Balos Beach is wonderful and idyllic. The water is wonderful crystal-clear and colorful. But it is so far away. You can take the long - but beautiful - road from Kissamos, or you can take a boat-trip from Kissamos.

It is hard to get there, after an adventurous driving, you have to park your car on the edge of the rocks, and then you have to climb down on the side of the hill which is a good tour, but make sure you are healthy enough to do this tour! You really have climb down and then up, so... More

The day we went to this beach it was very windy. There were a lot of rocks to stumble over on the way in and out of the water.

The travel is quite long, the road is about 20 km dirt road, but has to be seen. When you are on the top part the view is impressive. Then you have to walk for about half an hour, but this allows you to see this place fully. No umbrellas are allowed, but the place is so windy that you... More

I visited Balos lagoon a few years ago by ferry boat. This time, I did the road trip. It is a completely different experience. It is hard not to be overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of the place. The road trip gives you a chance to get stunning views of the general area. When we arrived at the viewpoint of... More

Balos Lagoon is probably one of the most epic beaches and waters in the world... and I've been around.... I have driven the rocky road and have taken the boat-ride that includes a stop at Gramvousa and both have their pros/cons.... if you don't like walking or steep rocky cliff-bound roads, take the boat. All I can say is go!!

Looks just like the pictures! Amazing place, two ways to reach it. By car (lond road, no asphalt) or by boat. I suggest by car and then take the mountain road towards the amazing beach, enjoying the view as it unfolds before your eyes!

Really like the Picture. Wonderful view. We went by car. Kissamos come here in forty minutes in the city of Chania. Then you go seven kilometers down a dirt road. round-trip path. Vehicles coming from the opposite direction continuously. After forty minutes walk you park the vehicle. Beautiful scenery is wonderful to walk down the mountain. You can take lots... More

Balos has one of the most beautiful views. Hands down. It is one of those "postcard" picture perfect places. However if you want to go swimming, this is not really the place to do so. Very shallow so not really for swimmers, and Beach itself has lots of big stones. If you take the boat, it takes you up to... More

Words cannot describe the level of beauty you're going to witness if you have the chance to go to Balos Beach. It is absolutely breathtaking. We went on a cloudy/windy day and were still amazed by the bright blue waters and dramatic landscapes. Yes, you drive a treacherous dirt/rocky road to get there, and it's well worth it. The Kri...
