Arriving there by car is not white-knuckle ride, however I would recommend to drive with caution. From the parking spot, it takes about 10 minutes to reach the strategic point overlooking the bay. Amazing location for taking breath taking picture. From there, other 10 minutes walking to reach the beach. The way back may be fatiguing if you are out... More

I visited a lot of beaches in my life, in many countries. But this one is definitely the BEST I have ever seen. Despite the effort you have to face leaving the beach and climbing a lot of stairs up to the top of the hill, where you have to leave your car, the visit worth every single second spent... More

I took a cruise from Kissamos port. Nice trip with breathtaking views, but when you finally get to Balos it is usually very crowded and in my opinion you cant really enjoy the scennery. Balos Lagoon is great for swimming tho!

If you've rented a car - definitely visit. Don't forget sports shoes for 2 km walk and make sure to be ready for the trip - steep roads could be scary

Can you imagine this place with less than ten tourists? I could not but I went there in November and it was really splendid. Nine people around. I drove with normal car and only in three moments it was really slow, otherwise 15-20 km/h. However, if there is a lot of rain, then it is not advisable to go. It... More

Who wants to walk can reach Balos in less than half an hour from the car park (after several kilometers of mild off-road coming from Kissamos) with a nice walk downhill (for those who are fit enough). Then remember you will have to go back at the end of the sunny and hot day. Otherwise there are ships full of... More

The most beautiful place I've been too! Very clean as there are not too many tourists. If you miss the morning ferry from Kissamos, like we did, rent a car, preferable a 4X4 and drive about 13 km, then trek down to the beach (another kilometer). Water is warm and clear and very shallow. A must see if you are... More

Beach with water on one side, lagoon with wading water on the other. Hikers have to walk back UP from the beach area which will be a true test of one's athletic ability.

A fabulous place - a long trek by car up the rough gravel road on the east side of the Gramvousa peninsula (beautiful views) and then a half hour walk over the hill and down many, many steps to the beach and lagoon on the west side - not very easy for arthritic knees! It was quite cold, overcast and... More
