Although we had visited the Burren before we had never taken a guided tour. It was an inspiring experience to be introduced to the human history, geology, flora and fauna by such an enthusiastic guide as Tony. He just seethed with knowledge and had a great knack of explaining and linking the many strands together. As retired teachers, we could... More

Tony Kirby brought the Burren alive for me and my husband Dave and our 2 girls aged 10 and 12yrs. An excellent few hours which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Tony delivers the information in such an eloquent interesting and entertaining way. We were fascinated with what we saw and heard. I would highly recommend it... More

Tony Kirby's guided walk on the Burren was a family highlight of our trip to Ireland. We felt that we were walking with a kindred spirit. He helped our 8-year old spot a frog and identify butterflies; discussed Famine politics and linked them to our modern food systems; and provided historical context to the area dating back 7,000 years. He... More

I can't recommend Tony's walks highly enough. He is an engaging personable guide who provides a fantastic blend of botany, geology and environmentalism . And shows great patience too ...having to compete with the noise of our 9 month old son over the course of the walk. As beautiful as the location is , there is so much that would... More

Had we just walked around the well marked nature trails in the Burren park we would have had a lovely day. Instead we were treated to an informative, entertaining, and personal tour with Tony. He answered both simple and more complex questions with respect and deep insight. Tony engaged our teens too. The result was that they listed the afternoon... More

We did a lot of research before going to Ireland and wanted to learn about everything from the local culture and history, to the landscape and wildlife. We were not disappointed. Tony Kirby was recommended to us by someone from the County Clare Tourism Office. He spent three-plus hours with our family hiking through The Burren and sharing his knowledge... More

I have just come back from this 2 hour tour, it was fantastic. Tony is a wonderful guide who was full of knowledge and interesting insights into the Burren. His tour covered so many aspects: history, geography, archeology, botany with some poetry thrown in! Time and money well spent.

Thank you Tony for the vast wealth of knowledge you shared about The Burren and the surrounding areas. I was so impressed by your tour including your poetry monologues and your ease of moving from one area to the next. I enjoyed the pace - not too slow, yet not too fast.

We spent 2 great hours with Tony Kirby exploring the magnificent Burren, and it was a highlight in a wonderful visit to Ireland. If we'd done a walk on our own, I'm sure we would have enjoyed the scenery, but Tony's extensive knowledge of the geology, history, flora and fauna of the area enhanced our visit immensely. He is charming,... More
