Theo and Gloria have a piece of heaven up in the mountains of Trinidad in Maracas Valley where by invitation only they open their home to visitors from around the world to view their hummingbird sanctuary. Theo gives a lovely educational presentation on the hummingbirds of Trinidad, a slide show of his hummingbird photography, while Gloria treats guests to her... More

If you want to get up close to hummingbirds, this is the place to go - quite simply, fantastic. Dozens of hummingbirds whizzing around you; very informative talk with stunning photos; lovely, relaxed tea on the veranda watching the birds. Go.

YOur host is extremely knowledgeable about the Hummingbirds and communicates the information well. His wife cooks snacks and the soup was wonderful! His photography is outstanding and prints of all sizes are available to purchase (really helpful for those traveling without a good camera, or not there long enough to get an amazing shot of these high energy feathered bullets.

Where else in the world can you enter a garden teeming with hummingbirds - close up views, knowledgable hosts, coffee and cake for a very modest fee. The birds are of course the star of the show, flying so close you can feel the breeze and the colours are magnificent - my only regret is that I left my good... More

I am almost certain that there is little that has not been said about this place because you cannot help but LOVE the experience. Hosted by a very knowledgeable, hospitable couple, it is a visit that you hope will never have to end. On the afternoon of my visit we were blessed with virtually swarms of hummingbirds coming for their... More

We had visitors in February and took them to this magical place. (I note a review). Theo and Gloria are wonderful hosts and although I have seen the slideshow at least ten times, I could see it over and over again and am constantly in awe of hummingbird facts that Theo presents with knowledge and joy. I have hummingbirds in... More

Thank you Theo and Gloria! Yesterday’s experience was splendid on many levels. Commingling in close company of different species of about 200 hummingbirds at any one time was simply awesome! Also, afternoon tea was special. As a Trinbagonian, I left Yerette with an expanded awareness of the many national emblematic representations of the hummingbird in the past and present life... More

I had mixed feelings about Yerette. My review should be taken in the following context: We visited Yerette as an excursion from Asa Wright nature center on our way to Caroni Swamp. It is a nice way to view hummingbirds without making the trip out to Asa Wright if you are in Trinidad, however, if you are at Asa Wright... More

This is an experience that I would recommend to everyone. Having those hummingbirds flying so closely all around me was amazing. The slide show was full of beautiful close-up pictures and Mr Ferguson was a wealth of information. I certainly realized that I knew nothing about hummingbirds until then. There is a fee for this attraction and it includes refreshments.... More

Definititely a must visit. We arrived uninvited on owners "day off"and still he spent time with US. His knowledge and enthusiasm and the presentation was both educational and moving. Thank you so much.
