I've done the Caroni Swamp Tours, the Pitch Lake, Asa Wright ... and many many more attractions that would appeal to the naturalist in Trinidad. But Yerette was by far the most enjoyable, the one that haunted me with it's beauty long after I had left, and which I recommend to all tourists heading for Trinidad. Much of the appeal... More

The experience of watching and photographing the huge number and variety of hummingbirds in the garden at Yerette is a great way to spend three hours. It's really just someone's private house, open for booked visits, where you can have a good home-cooked lunch on the terrace and learn al about the hummingbirds from the charming owner. Take lots of... More

I wasn't keen on the idea when our guests booked it but once Theo and Gloria's welcome had put everyone at ease and the hummingbirds started to weave their magic I was hooked. What fascinating little birds - we all learnt an awful lot, the lunch was simple but very well prepared and tasty and Theo's incredible photographs had us... More

Theo and Gloria truly make every guest feel welcome and at home. The learning experience on the amazing humming birds is priceless. Up close and personal is best way to describe the view of the birds whilst feeling the buzz of their wings and listening to their sweet chirping sounds. A true treasure for both locals and foreigners. One can... More

Theo and Gloria have a piece of heaven up in the mountains of Trinidad in Maracas Valley where by invitation only they open their home to visitors from around the world to view their hummingbird sanctuary. Theo gives a lovely educational presentation on the hummingbirds of Trinidad, a slide show of his hummingbird photography, while Gloria treats guests to her... More

If you want to get up close to hummingbirds, this is the place to go - quite simply, fantastic. Dozens of hummingbirds whizzing around you; very informative talk with stunning photos; lovely, relaxed tea on the veranda watching the birds. Go.

YOur host is extremely knowledgeable about the Hummingbirds and communicates the information well. His wife cooks snacks and the soup was wonderful! His photography is outstanding and prints of all sizes are available to purchase (really helpful for those traveling without a good camera, or not there long enough to get an amazing shot of these high energy feathered bullets.

Where else in the world can you enter a garden teeming with hummingbirds - close up views, knowledgable hosts, coffee and cake for a very modest fee. The birds are of course the star of the show, flying so close you can feel the breeze and the colours are magnificent - my only regret is that I left my good... More

I am almost certain that there is little that has not been said about this place because you cannot help but LOVE the experience. Hosted by a very knowledgeable, hospitable couple, it is a visit that you hope will never have to end. On the afternoon of my visit we were blessed with virtually swarms of hummingbirds coming for their... More
