The village is a centre of walking and climbing, so can get busy in the summer. The castle is fully intact although parts have been restored. It is well worth a visit and parts are museum like with artefacts and reconstructions of centuries past. The land around the castle is quite small, but well organised into gardens and paths. Worth... Fun castle – good for all ages. They do re-enactments, which is a fun way to get the tour! Easy to get to from Madrid or Segovia (under an hour by car).

Worth the look. The location and the outside of the castle are quite Impressive. Grounds are not to extensive but include gardens and a tournament field. Parking is quite good , but it had quite a few tour busses on site when I was there and was partially closed for a "Special Event" (this is a staple of Spanish castles... More

I went to visit this castle with a couple of friends from Madrid, which is about 45-60 mins drive away. Really enjoyable, although heavily restored, it has largely been sensitively done and allows visitors with a bit of imagination, a glimpse into times passed. Great views from the ramparts of the surrounding mountains and reservoir, which was remarkably alive with... More

This place is very beautiful and interesting. This is a real castle, and I was impressed to walk around it. The only thing I was desappointed - the rules. We were not allowed to visit it with a smal dog (2.5 kg) who was in his special bag... So I and my husband had to do it separately .. this... More

The castle is well preserved ( but very restored after being in ruins) and great to visit. Some nice views from the top of it of the nearby countryside. Some of the signs are in Spanish only and others have been translated. Can get to the castle on the 724 bus from Madrid. Nice playground nearby too.

Very nice tour of this beautiful medieval castle, it's very interesting to see how they re-organized the rooms as they probably were in the Middle Ages. Beautiful views from the top, nice opportunities for photos.

The Mendoza Castle is the best conserved castle in the Madrid region. King Juan I donated the land where the castle sits to Pedro Gonzalez de Mendoza in 1383. The building of the castle was started in 1475 by the first Duque del Infantado and finished by his son, Don Iñigo Lopez de Mendoza. The famous architect Juan Guas participated... More

Went with my wife, mother and brother. (He drove the car.) The castle is located in a town overlooking a reservoir. The main attraction during a Friday night visit is a theatrical-form guide to the castle and its history. After the representation was over we had a chance to go outside to the towers and observe the panorama. It was... More

This is a superb medieval castle really close to Madrid. We did the theatrical guided visited and it was incredible. Two actors dressed in s XVII costumes guided us through the castle while explaining the medieval customs and castle history. A very educational visit.
