We did a three hour trek with High Country Horses, as a total beginner I have now decided that two hours would have been the better option! Even as a kiwi who has spent time in the area before I enjoyed the scenery and commentary, you see a really stunning part of the world on these rides. More

We had a very nice 3 hour ride. There were only three people and one leader and I appreciated the small group. I had the most experience of the bunch, so I was given a faster horse. I loved my horse. My husband's horse was a little slow for his liking, but he doesn't have very much experience so I... More

The ride itself was amazing with such beautiful scenery but the experience was let down by the guides. Got the impression they were a little bored with it all and quite robotic with the little commentary provided. I heard 2 separate people ask about the ages of the horses only to be met with vague answers. I thought that was... More

Oh my god I wish you had brought this to our attention directly, My partner and myself have worked very hard to bring our buisness and horses up to what we feal as a high standard and then to be let down by staff, that feel it doesn't matter because they will get paid anyway makes our stomaches turn. I... More

It was only after we got back to our hotel that our concierge mentioned that he never books people with High Country unless they are experienced riders. I wish we had got him to book with another company rather than choosing High Country ourselves. Although the scenery is beautiful the horses are 'boisterous' as the concierge described them or plain... More

I find this comment interesting as to which hotel you are refering to as most of our clients (as high as 80%) are novices so none of that makes sence to us. As for the biting and kicking well they are hoses and sometimes thats what they do, I have been searching our inciedent forms for when there was someone... More

We did an overnight trek across beautiful countryside, through rushing rivers, river beds dotted with lupins, and snow capped mountains in the distance. Our guide was informative and had a good knowledge of the area we rode through, and the terrain was varied. Our dietory requirements were well catered for as we are both Gluten intolerant and the food was... More

I joined the 3 hours "paradise view ride" on 10th of March. The ride was fine. So, I paid NZ$35 dollars extra to buy the photos. The quality of the printed photos actually weren't very good (a noisy picture in photographic terms) . But it's said that the price includes free downloads and photo sharing. I could go to their... Hi I would realy like to respond to this comment and clear up a couple of issues. Yes the photos can appear a bit noisy but you have them in your hand before you buy.If you dont like them you have the CHOICE not to buy them. Although you do need to buy them to get the code for the... More

I booked the Paradise combo through my hotel in Queenstown, the Millenium. The arrangements for lunch in Glenorchy between the morning and afternoon riding sessions were very poor. The staff in the cafe were quite rude and unhelpful. They didn't offer me a menu and limited my choice to sandwiches. I opted for a toasted sandwich which wasn't particularly good... More

Hi this seems to be the best way to let you know we have taken your comments to the cafe where you had your unsatisfactory lunch in hope to rectify this problem, We would still like to use there lunches but if they can't keep there standards up we will find better facilities More

Horse riding in this part of New Zealand is amazing. High Country Horses makes it easy. Always looking at the horizon for spectacular scenery. Well worth booking. If you have a car is a bit cheaper ygM using the tour bus. More

We had not planned this prior to arriving in Queenstown, but we were overjoyed to have done it. A beautiful drive out to Glenorchy. Don't take the complimentary bus if you have a car - you should stop at the lookout halfway to Glenorchy for photos! Also there is the Glenorchy Cafe, perfect for a bite to eat, really good... More
