I must admit, I hate Zoos. Hate hate them. This one I can manage. We've visited here close to ten times. Its setting on private grounds, with the Chateau Barben backdrop make up for it. It's more like a private animal collection. Not too many cages to be seen, except for the big cats etc

Fortunately, we did not experience the theft we had heard about as we did park in the open lot. It was Sunday and very busy so maybe that was a deterrent. The zoo itself far outshines any we have seen in France - the animals have lots of space, they are animated and obviously well cared for. The snack restaurant...

I went to the zoo the last week of December 2011. It is a nice zoo, with a lot of animals and a great environment. There are several animations done by the zoo staff that are nice. A little train allows you to discover the place.
