There were several viewing areas, we drove through the safari part which was really cool. The animals are right there next to your car and they have wardens in jeeps nearby just in case. The petting zoo and some rides nearby were great for our young kids.

You can drive through the park in your own car or take a bus-either way you pay per person rather than by car load so the bus is probably the cheaper option. Our family visited the Akiyoshidai Safari Land and enjoyed the experience. We drove through the park in our own vehicle with a rented English audio guide. It was definitely memorable to see lions and tigers (and, yes, bears) right out side your car's window. If you take the safari bus, though, you will have a chance to feed the animals... More

One can get up close an intimate with many of the animals, including the big cats which at certain times, when they are cubs, one can cuddle.
