We had some time to spend in Shiroishi and opted to tour this stunning castle seated a top the town hillside. Grounds and building are exquisite. Tour guides are present but not pushy. A pretty small castle which is the only thing to see in this tiny town. The castle was built in 1995 to lure in people on their way to Sendai. What of it there is is pretty enough as castles go and if you're driving then it might be worth stopping off for a quick look but its not really... More

This re-built castle is well worth a visit if you happen to be in Shiroishi. It is currently under repair but is still quite awesome just from the grounds. The history of the area is rich and embodied well at this castle.

This sleepy little town whose only attraction at the moment is their newly reconstructed Shiroishi Castle. It is just 15 minutes walk from JR Shiroishi Station.
