Kinosaki is a great town. Absolute relaxation. If you are in the mood to "earn" those hotsprings, take a hike up to the top of the onsen shrine (there is a cable car if you are lazy). The views from the top are spectacular. The trail was quite a bit muddy when we went and we were slightly dirty returning...
