If you intend to visit Auroville, you need to take an appointment 2 days in advance, Otherwise you are just wasting your time going there. Only people with prior appointment can enter the Matrimandir. Rest of the visitors will not even get to go close to the building. you will have to see it from a distance of around 250... More

I thought this place is over-hyped for the fact that it is usually in the must visit list when one goes to Pondy. However, I personally would not recommend this place cuz of the simple reason you cannot enter the place and really have an experience for yourself. The entry is restricted and one has to plan and book a... More

after a long travel when you reach the place you are asked to take pass after viewing a video for 15 minutes, then you are made to walk for nearly 1.5 km in the hot sun, though there is a road upto the matri mandir, your vehicle will be stopped at a distance of 2 km. after all these trouble... I had some information about Auroville but learned about the Mandir just a day before going to Pondicherry. Auroville and the Matrimandir is like going into a different world. Yes, you have to go there a day before to book a slot for meditation for the first time...no phone calls. But Auroville should be a trip in itself for the... More

This was the last place we visited before we left to Bangalore. I wish if we had spent more time here. This area is very calm and worth spending time. One has to watch a video about Auroville to get free pass to go to matrimandir view point which is around 1 KM from visitor`s center. One has to reserve... More

Matrimandir along with the whole of Auroville is a very clam and peaceful place. We were there only for two days, but to consume the positivity of Auroville one should give it at least 10 to 15 days. Restaurants and cafe to try out in Auroville are Farm Fresh, Tanto and Kofi Bar. One should also try and shop for... More

To go inside Matrimandir one has to make a reservation at the visitor's centre. The person who makes the reservation is extremely rude an impolite. Auroville is branded as the place for people and a place for humanity. But the residents of auroville are far from being friendly. Go to auroville because matrimandir as a structure is definitely worth a... More

While returning from Pondicherry to Chennai we planned a visit to the famed Auroville. The drive took us a bit more than an hour. Since it was March it was sweltering hot still it was something worth going. With the entry formalities done, we had to wait for the video demonstration which was informative and quick one. Then we got... More

It's amazing place to visit and interesting to see the development from a small commune to a thriving community. The walk through the gardens is pleasant and the huge banyan tree itself makes the visit worthwhile. The complex is cleverly laid out with the dome of Matrimandir being enticingly off limits to all but those in the sect. We too... More
