Despite it being a rainy day, high up the mountain at Scenic Caves Base Camp it was snowing perfectly. The weather is always different at the top. The trails had been groomed, and the trail maps were abundant and easy to follow. Beautiful scenery of Georgian Bay/Collingwood. We packed a lunch and sat at a lookout point. 6km trek took... More

Dear Corrine: Thank you for your lovely review. Our location is unique because of its high altitude snow conditions. As you noted, it might be raining in Collingwood while it’s snowing at Scenic Caves. The cross-country ski trails are groomed daily for both classic and skate styles. The dedicated snowshoe trails are well marked. On weekends, the warm up Hut... More

I'm an inexperienced skier and my husband only did downhill years ago so we signed up for lessons $15/each. It was great! Carter quickly honed in on what we needed to work on and worked us through basics as well as some very practical tips. Afterwards he suggested a couple of the trails that we might like to try. Altogether... More

Thank you for your five star review. We’re so pleased you returned to enjoy the Scenic Caves property in the winter. Lessons are a great way to start a Nordic adventure and help beginners enjoy their cross-country ski experience. “Easy Peasy” and “Lemon Squeesy” trails are groomed daily and ideal for classic skiers. The trails are looped, so you can’t... More

The conditions didn't hurt as Scenic Caves had received a fresh coat of snow a few days earlier. Weather was ideal too, -7C, and sunny. I can't speak for advanced skiers, but for an intermediate there is a good variety of trails. And their maps are right side up!

Thank you so much for recommending our trails as “excellent”. Because we are situated at the highest point of the Niagara Escarpment, the Nordic Centre offers reliable snow conditions and consistently cooler temperatures. Our grooming team is out daily preparing the trails for both classic and skate ski styles. In total, there are 27 km. of trails with approximately 13km... More

We went to scenic caves with 6 other members of the family just sightseeing. We ended up hiking to the rugged caves.. was extremely memorable. It was fun and adventurous climbing up some of the more tricky rocks to get to the caves... had many a laughs and the natural beauty was such a treat to the eyes!!

We went there on a warm day of late December. Caves were fun. Some are really thin and being a thin guy had trouble getting through. My husband is average size and went through as well, but take this into account. Trails were nice and offered great views. We even got to see wild animals. Bridge was fun too, although... More

Thank you for visiting Scenic Caves and offering your comments. This year’s early winter has certainly been unpredictable. The caves/caverns/crevasse trail is generally closed between November to May, but this 2015 has been the exception. Now that there is an accumulation of snow, the caves are closed until next spring. Delighted that you were lucky to catch a glimpse of... More

I planned a whole trip to blue mountain for my birthday just so I could visit the scenic caves to find out they closed the week before and wont be opening until there is snow. Nothing on the website showed this fact!! I was so so very disappointed!!

We too are disappointed that you couldn’t visit on your birthday during November. The caves are traditionally closed at the end of October and do not reopen until May each year (weather depending). Unfortunately we are at the whim of Mother Nature. There are numerous locations on the website that advise guests regarding our operational schedule. For example, on the... More

Jasmine and Gord were fantastic teachers and guides and Chris was a strong and friendly catcher at the bottom of the zip lines. We sure got our money's worth. A great history lesson goes along with the tour also! Must do and see attraction!
