The animals shown are very beautiful, the aquarium gives ou a good impression of what creatures to find in the Japaneese sea. Just one BIG negative point: The cages are way to small, especially the dolphin's-, penguin's- and seal-cages are just sad to see. After my visit I wrote a letter which was never responded. Do you want to support... More

This was well worth the trip. Fantastic infrastructure and aquarium with local Sealife - many of which we had not seen before. They have shows throughout the day as well. 3900 yen for a family of 5 to get in assuming one is 4 or under

A pleasant escape from the heat. Heaps of marine animals to see including porpoises. Although the enclosure was small, it was kept very clean, and they interacted with you through the glass. We happened to be there when they took two penguins out so that the public could pat them at 2pm. I hear that it also takes place in... More

Like other reviewers, I was not overly keen on the size of the enclosure for the porpoises and the seals, the rest of the aquarium is brilliant and (honestly) it doesn't need these mammals. As a tourist, the big draw of this aquarium is the chance to see fish that most people would not be able to see outside of... More

We were dying from the heat, and so we thought we would visit the aquarium. Overall, it was great, and we enjoyed the show as well.

We love aquariums and fish. This one was so crowded and the children so poorly behaved it was pretty unbearable. The sea life was is relatively small tanks (compared to Monterey, Boston and National Aquariums in US). We didn't stay long!

This aquarium can’t be called grand but nonetheless I liked the layout and the animals they featured. It’s a good place to bring kids as they may not have the appreciation for the shrines that Miyajima is known for.

I love aquariums, the part with the fish was quite nice, educational plates gave a lot of information about the variety of species. And it was fun. But the seals, penguins and other bigger animals seem to be held in tiny and terrible enclosures and the feeling of pity and sadness is overwhelming.

My kids & husband love this little aquarium! Daily at 11:30 and 14:00, they have "Fun Time with the Penguins" where people can pet the penguins. At 15:00 staff selects 5-volunteers to drop fish to feed the penguins. My daughter was excited to be one of the selected until she smelled her hands after she feed a penguin a fish.... More

While traveling southern Japan, Go to Miyajima and enjoy the markets, shrine, pagoda, wandering deer and walk to the top of the mountain but make sure you visit the aquarium. The're many different types of fish in various tanks, including a touch tidal pool that the children really enjoy. Although I didn't understand most of the presentations, (unfortunately I do...
