beautiful beach

Beautiful beach surrounded by high cliffs. The water was very cold though and the waves where quite high.

The long-distance coastal trail ("The Fisherman's Trail") passes by and is well worth following, particularly to the south of the beach.

The Portuguese are spoiled with the best beaches in Europe. And Praia de Odeceixe is one of their 7 natural wonders. Have a look on Youtube at 'Odeceixe aerial view' and say Wowwww.... In Portuguese I say 'Michiel gosta da Praia de Odeceixe', which translates as 'Michiel likes Praia de Odeceixe'. Just 3 kms from beautiful Moorish-style village of Odeceixe,... More

Superb sandy beach with River running in on one side The views of the rocks and beach were to die for and at the end of April there was a profusion of wild flowers. The beach was very clean and the facilities good .My favourite bar was overlooking the beach and river near the surf school which was run by... More

Algarve, the southern coast of Portugal was blessed - I dare to say - with the most beautiful beaches in Europe. The western coast has several really beautiful wild beaches "not touristics" (avoid August...if possible, since, this is the season peak), more windy and with lower sea water temperatures. I know them all and, considering 3 factors: "less / no windy"... More

Quiet at this time of year. Sleepy even. Great surf. Lovely spot to wander between the surf and the river outlet.

Love this beach. We were there with two teenagers and two little ones. Perfect for both. The sea comes in and joins the river which makes it a shallow pool for a paddle with a little inflatable boat. Restaurant is great too. Very friendly staff and lovely food.

Cool weather mid-morning on Monday after Easter - a lone surfer being watched by a lonely partner looking constantly out to see to spot a bobbing head searching for the next wave. Good for picnic on a warm sunny day - never crowded.

We headed here to escape the rain in the mountains. It is a wonderful beach, edged on its northern side by a river that flows into the sea under steep cliffs. The beach has golden soft sand and so was comfortable to walk barefoot on. It wasn't that busy; a variety of touring families and retired travellers, a few terns... More
