Great value, and a realistic presentation of a difficult time in history

I can see what they are trying to do but this is an Imperial war museum not and art gallery or a statement of liberal intent. Very disappointed, as the building is very very impressive the content though is very lacking and to be honest not very interesting or of much content.

The Imperial War Museum is fantastic value for money. While you do have to pay & display for parking, that is also good value. There is no fee for entrance, but a donation is suggested. The displays seem to rotate quite regularly and there always seems to be something different to see (I've been a couple of times). The actual... More

Great exhibition with interactive bits for kids and young at heart alike. Amazing displays with some hard points made about the effects of war on the individual. Exhibits tell stories of real people and war is not glamourised in any way. Well worth a visit for anyone of any age. A great way to explain history to children and I... More

We are fortunate to have this in Manchester-big enough to have a varied content but small enough to be intimate. It is always thought provoking.

Two hours not long enough. If visiting for the first time it's worth parking in the Lowry Quays Multistory car park. Free parking if you purchase something in the shops to the value of £5! Museum car park £4 for 2 hours!

Massive building housing the tiniest of displays. Some displays were interesting , the majority were predictable and dull. The building is fabulous, much better than whats in it ! The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Security guards need to be more discreet, and less agressive. I get the impression that the Manchester museam is the "poor relation" to the... More

We were fascinated by all the stories featured in this museum, the sounds brought back memories of my husband's childhood although he was only 3 when the war ended. The trip to the viewing area was excellent and well recommended.

The museum is excellant Inside there are different areas depicting various aspects of War throughout the years. Some of the exhibits are humbling and portray the horrific side of war. There was a film in the main area relating to rememberance which was vey emotive and the remains from one of the twin towers is a stark reminder of the... More
