The kids loved it here. Lots of sand dunes between the car parks and beaches. It does get busy though so I'd suggest getting there early. We will be back again.

We spent a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon on Formby beach, we parked in the Lifeboat Road car park - £4.50 daily rate, complete with ice cream van - yum! We had a lovely picnic on the beach and spent hours playing in the dunes. Recommended for fun with the children.

We arrived late in the day at 1pm. It was busy and we had to que for a parking space but the gentleman from the national Trust who we paid for the space was lovely. We parked near the toilets and although it was busy they were well maintained. The beach itself was clean and stunning! When we went it... More

flat and easy to park. Ice cream van and shops nearby. Great for kids and dogs on the beach. Very clean. There are wind turbines in the sea and the steel men on the beach-an exhibition.

We arrived about lunchtime having had errands to run in the morning. The traffic up the road to the carpark was ridiculously long. We could count at least 30 cars ahead; all waiting for someone else to leave as the carpark was full (there was a sign placed up the road informing of this). People were dumping cars all along... Absolutely stunning beach with sand dunes. Just be careful of the bricks and rocks embedded in the sand. Best beach we've seen in the UK to date.

Loved the dunes. Loved the long wide expanse of beach. Clean beach with a few shells. Only place to spend money was ice cream van and parking fee!

The big but is why there are no public conveniences near to the beach it would help a great deal when you have young children or people who have difficulty holding on instead you have to go as soon as you go through the entrance to the car park or wait and hold on until you are ready to go... A day trip to this beach that took us through some great scenery to get to the beech. Unfortunately every turn was littered with rubbish, plastic bags, beer bottles, vodka bottles and general litter as well as broken glass and dog logs. The beech has litter floating in the sea. Such a shame. We won't be going back.

Head down lifeboat road and there's plenty of parking. It's a short walk over the dunes and the beach is stunning.
