Woke up to a nice day for a change so checked the NT website and decided on visiting Formby beach. We particularly enjoyed walking round the forest watching the lovely red squirrels. The beach was large though lots of rubble/bricks which was rather weird. Dogs allowed on beach which is great as so difficult to take your dog anywhere in... More

A great walk from the squirrel reservation, beautiful to see the blue sea. Clean beach, not like at Waterloo.

Lovely beach, lots of space for everyone, great dunes, lovely coast. Not as well maintained as it was 10 years ago though. Lots of litter and debris.

Formby is a great place for a day out. We have been a few ties now and always enjoy it. We park and walk across the dunes and through the woods which always adds to the fun. We've never seen a squirrel yet though! The beach is clean although I have come across debris a couple of times which included... More

Nice beach walk, even if a little windy! But best of all is the woodland walk and wonderful red squirrels. It is National Trust, so free to members.

Lovely beach, pine woods gorgeous for walking around, very dog friendly, ice creams and small snack van, otherwise very natural area. Bring your own picnic and enjoy the beautiful dunes, clean sand and water. If sunny really great place to spend the day, equally good on a cold winters day for a walk with the dogs

Nice beach with large sand dunes although access into the dunes is very limited. The woods behind the dunes are a pleasure to explore with the added bonus of our rare red squirrels in residence. Seeing them on the squirrel walk was a real bonus. As usual with National Trust access is good & a return visit a must when... More

We had great day in the beach. Carried hamburgers 🍔, fruits, soft drinks, and wine. That beach has dunes, the children enjoyed it. Don't have toilets maybe only in summer. Parking has a cost of 4.5 by day.

if you arrive in motorised transport then you will have to pay to park as the roads around now have yellow lines hence you will get a parking ticket. When I went the other day it cost us £4.50 for a whole days parking. On a nice day it is a great place to paddle in the River Mersey, sunbath... More

The kids loved it here. Lots of sand dunes between the car parks and beaches. It does get busy though so I'd suggest getting there early. We will be back again.
