Didn't really pay too much attention to the beach, had a quick walk there. However, the red squirrels are a joy to see. They are really friendly so bring a camera.

Decided to pay a visit to Formby beach on the way to Southport last weekend and it turned out to be a good decision! The national trust carpark had ample spaces and was easily accessible from lifeboat road. The long sandy beach was accessed via a boardwalk over the sand dunes. My dog had a great time. The beach was... More

This large, clean beach is wonderful. Access via the National Trust entrance charges per car. The Red Squirrel nature reserve is just lovely. Really enjoyed Formby and will go back in the summer

We visited at the height of summer, great little beach. Few down points, it was packed, parking was terrible and traffic towards the beach painstaking!

Beautiful expanse of golden sands. Best time to visit is when the weather is wild, windy and cold and you have this vast beach all to yourself. A dog walkers paradise. Formby beach is accessed at Lifeboat Road and shouldn't be confused with the National Trust Squirrel Reserve on Victoria Road, which leads to Freshfield beach to the north of... More

Great beach to have long family walks in the winter & a wonderful beach to spend sun filled summer days out. Also the National Trust Squirrel park is just attached, so you will see red squirrels about the place also.

Have been to Formby Point many times during the summer months but decided to go on a freezing cold, clear bright winter day and it was fabulous. The beach can get really busy when it's warm but there were a handful of pepole mainly with dogs (who can run free). You can acceasily the beach through the woods- it is... More

A great walk across the dunes to reach the glorious beach. Ok it was very cold and windy but something rather special. Lovely to see some horses being ridden ams enjoying themselves greatly.

Formby Beach is basically a very large beach. Very popular in the summer (leading to parking issues on summer weekends) it can be a very nice place to be. There are no easy conveniences (toilets/cafe etc.) so come prepared. There are also some interesting things to see - the old lifeboat station, dinosaur footprints, sand dunes.
