We went on a tour (in English) of the foundry and it was really very interesting. The tour guide was able to answer all questions. The gift shop has some lovely items.

This foundry has been making bells in the traditional way for a very long time and it was very interesting to see how it's done. We had a French guide who spoke perfect English and was very good at answering questions. The only thing to bear in mind is that you are touring a working foundry and the noise is... More

The tour does not take long but is fascinating and interesting as the foundry has been in existence of 150 years - loved our visit!

Basically, don't miss this opportunity. Our guided tour was in very proficient English and allowed for many questions to be asked. The site is small, and the whole visit doesn't take more than an hour really, but is entirely fascinating. Although young children could enjoy ringing some bells outside the foundry, I would suggest that the tour is far more... More

Our guided tour of this 150 year old foundry was an experience not to be forgotten, on our tour (in English) there were just the two of us. Our guide spoke very good english, no rush and any questions that she could not answer; one of the craftsmen came over to explain. At present they are in the process of... More

Great visit to this tiny bell foundry, our guide was very good, though sometimes hard to hear over the bells being rung all over the site! He took us through all the processes involved in making a bell, and there were some bells there that had been cast only that day and were starting to cool down. Lots of bells... More

Our guided tour of this 150 year old foundry was an experience not to be forgotten. Friendly, educational and fun. At present they are in the process of starting manufacture on a huge commemorative bell to mark their 150th anniversary. All visitors to the foundry are invited to have their names inscribed on it at no cost.

Really interesting visit whilst we were in Villedieu - not to be missed. Bought a couple of unique presents while we were there. Fascinating insights into the making of bells and other brass objects in an enjoyable cadre and town.

Very nice tour of this small foundry that makes those giant bells hanging in churches all over France. You can ring bells to your heart'c content, and see the molds being built for the latest orders. I brought my kids here when they were young, and they loved it too.

No fuss or frills, you walk into a working traditional bell foundry. A guide, ask for the very theatrical and knowledgeable Simon, shows and tells you everything. Amazing where the bells go to, how long it takes to make one, and that they follow the same process used for hundreds of years. Wood fired kilns, earthen pits, metal chains to... More
