if you are staying at the nearby hotel, these ruins are a very short run away, if you make it all the way to the top it is a very nice spot to relax and if the weather is good has very nice views over frankfurt

Our son lives in Konigstein so we made plans to walk from their house to the castle. It was a clear day and the views from the top were awesome. We could see Frankfurt. The walk up to the tower is a challenge if you are not in great shape but our 3 year old grandson made it so you... More

We visited these ruins at around sunset. The castle itself is large and cavernous with a number of corridors to wander. Though I highly suggest bringing a flashlight, since while there appeared to be lights, they were not lit. The tower itself is fairly tall and gives a commanding view of the surroundings. Again a flashlight is very helpful if... More

We were offered a voucher that included a free visit to the ruin but it was closed, on a Saturday. A closed ruin! Why? Who steals rocks??

The castle ruins are kept very well - upgrades are in progress; festivities are held there, too. Climb the tower!

Definitely well worth a visit to take you back to the medivial age ....not to mention the breathtaking views of the Frankfurt Skyline. Suggestion is to take a windbreaker with you as it can get quite chilly up on the look at vantage point. An excellent venue for a musical concert in the summer months ....defintely worth a visit

This place feels like a real castle from the middle ages when it hosts medieval festivals. It achieves the gone back in time atmosphere by: 1. Taking a semi-ruined castle (Burg Königstein) 2. Add a medieval tournament 3. Provide discounts for people to come in costume 4. Letting the German weather do the sunshine/rain/sun/rain/storm/sun thing (all in a few hours).... More

They also have mid-evel games from time to time. Worth the walk and get some exercise! Great look on the Frankfurt area!
