It oke to see the firefly's. But its way to expensive for what you see. And when we were there, we were one of the 5 boats. To many people!

I went to Donsol on an off peak season. I witnessed the quite, provincial Do sol, reminiscent of the yesteryears of my childhood. it was just an overnight stay. We hired a banca for a thousand pesos to bring the five of us to the Ogod river to watch the fireflies. The river ride alone was mesmerizing. With just the half-moon and... More

It is sad to know that the firefly watching of Donsol does not know what species of fireflies there are. They say no researcher wants to check it. The fireflies look like a christmas tree. When I was younger though there were more of them though. Now they just look really few and live on top of the trees. You... More

I was apprehensive about doing this tour. Unfortunantly had to hire the whole bangkla so an expensive tour. You don't go far before the engine is off and you'll see a tree that looks like it is full of fairy lights flashing. The whole tree is full of them and it is an impressive lightshow. The quiet cruise down the... More

What a contrasting day, whale shark interaction, walk around the village of Donsol and then to take a 30 minute tri-cycle ride to the river start point. The tour run by locals was exceptional. A quiet cruise upstream with lots of information about the river, local area and firefly's gave us a special understanding of the locals and the nature... More

I've been lucky enough to see fireflies in other locations before I visited the Philippines, but the hypnotic display in Dolsol is like something from a fairy tale. As with my hotel and Whale Shark Interaction sessions, I booked my firefly excursion via Donsol Eco Tours, who also called a trike that took me to the tour centre – which... More

What an amazing natural event. I would recommend if you can afford it to pay a little extra and have a boat to yourself, my partner and I done this and did not regret paying the slightly higher amount. It is a must see if you are in Donsol, at one point the guide caught a firefly in her hand... More

This is a great thing to do of an evening in Donsol. We left our accommodation at 6pm and it took about 30 minutes to get to the firefly jetty (there are a few different start points so depends which one you go to). We paid our fees (1250php for a boat that can fit up to 6 people) and... More

The guide was very knowledgeable about fireflies. We saw three different sites. The "magical bush" was the best. Very beautiful
