we went late in May and decided to just take a chance, even if it's not peak season for the whale sharks to still be there. we were warned that there wasn't any whale shark spotted that morning, but since we were there, we thought, might as well go. AND IT WAS THE MOST EXCITING MORNING WE EVER HAD! the... More

We got to see a juvenile whale shark! That's the good news. Unfortunately, the water was more murky than usual and the whale shark was in the mood to swim very quickly through the water. We would get into the water at the instruction of our guide and see a glimpse of the whale shark as it swam by, then... More

Most amazing thing I have ever done!!!!!!!! Beautiful and amazing. You have to do this. Sit next to the guide, he held my hand and took me right to the shark three times. If you don't see one def stay and go the next day. Not to be missed x

Amazing experience. You will not regret a trip here to see the whale sharks. Get here early in the morning 7am for the best experience. You can rent equipment at the center for 300 PHP or probablly cheaper from your hotel.

Though I did not see the whale shark clearly due to the weather, it is still a great experience. This is a must try if you are in Donsol.

Well, if you are interested in this you may have seen some great pictures and great videos and read reviews that say how amazing it is. Be sure to look at the other reviews, images, and videos that capture 25 boats with 6 people each all getting into the water to try to get a glimpse of 1 poor whale... More

I heard it wasn't the super peak season for whale shark watching. Nevertheless, I took my chance. I was taken by a tricycle from Donsol town to the Butanding Center. I was charged 40 pesos (but I heard that I should pay only 20.00, up to now I still don't know the real rate). I rented my snorkling gear at... More

This was the main reason we visited the Philippines and it was well worth it. We went late Jan which is before the peak season to see the whale sharks so we main sure we had a couple days in Donsol to make sure we saw one. The first day our boat saw 5 whale sharks in total, and I... More

This adventure is fun for people who love and know how to swim/snorkle. Unfortunately, I am not one of those people. Still, it was a memorable experience. The registration is 100/pax (Filipinos) & 300/pax (Foreigners). The boat is 3500PHP (not sure how many hours it's good for) maximum of 7pax - 4 tourists & 3 crews (boat driver, spotter, BIO).... We went to Donsol last end of May 2011 mainly to see the Butanding, and we were not disappointed. We were able to see 3 whalesharks. I thought the first one is already large but the last one is really really HUGE! When the BIO says ‘jump,’ you must jump immediately, otherwise you’ll miss out on the opportunity. We were... More
