We arrived at the centre after having flown from Manila to Legazpi and then a 90 minute car transfer to Donsol and it was still only 10.30 in the morning. We were greeted by the... read more

As usual, mass tourism kills it. Close to ridiculous. It is not a nice experience of mother nature...

Whale sharks are absolutely everything to this town and once you swim with them you will understand why. We went on our first day in Donsol and swam with two whale sharks multiple times. This fish are huge and are nothing short of magical. The second time we visited we were too late for the boats ( arriving 8.30am), for... More

There is a good chance watching whale sharks near Donsol, but of course there is no guarantee. We did the trip twice as on the first run we didn't see one. The interaction centre is well organized. For introduction you get a good video briefing. Mask, snorkel & fins are for rent. Local fishermen are the spotters 6m /y. Fee:... More

We did not see any whaleshark when we went here. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack. Tourists like us waited for the center to open. Yes, they were late. Their BIO rep should at least interact with the tourist and explained why do we have to sit on a boat for 3 hrs driving around the... More

Arrogantly I can say We have been all over the world, but this encounter with a 10 meter+ species I will never forget. We booked ahead at donsol eco tours but you can also just go to the boarding area. Max 6 per boat, 6000 peso total. We apparently booked a private tour, so just the 2 of us on... More

The Whale Shark Interaction is an activity that you will never forget! Swimming with such amazing animals is awesome. The interaction tour guide brings you close (and on an eco friendly way) to the whale sharks. Jump into the water and let the interaction start! We also saw a group of 15 dolphins. This was without any doubt one of... More

Within two hours cruise we saw 5 big whale sharks feeding at the surface. Snorkeling and free diving along these magnificent creatures were truly unique.

The three of us arrived at the Dive Center at 7:30AM for registration and waited for about an hour for other people to join us so the boat fee (P3500 for 3 hours) is cheaper. Registration for locals (Filipinos) is P100 and for foreigners is P300. We rented snorkeling masks for P150 each. The fins can also be rented for... More

We arrived at the centre after having flown from Manila to Legazpi and then a 90 minute car transfer to Donsol and it was still only 10.30 in the morning. We were greeted by the staff and asked to watch a briefing video about what we could expect, protocol and safety, before heading out on the boat for a 3... More

Obviously we were very disappointed that there were no whale sharks to be seen. We actually went out twice, and nothing. The boat people said that they had not seen any in a few weeks. Sadly we were also told that they used to see numerous ones, at all times of year, but due to over fishing the population has... More
