We arrived in Donsol on April 20, 2015 and at 830am, after the briefing and video viewing, we're already on our boat ride in the middle of the sea. Within 5 min of the ride, we were told by our boat guide to wear our mask and flippers and jump to the water. As he shouted "look down"! lo and... More

I had a wonderful experience swimming with "Butanding" or the Whale Sharks, not one but 5. The boat guide, Joel, was excellent. He led us to very close encounter with the giants without touching them. The management of the Donsol Whale Shark Center is so wonderful and truly a good example of Eco-tourism. The only reason I did not give... More

Swimming with the largest fish in the sea was on my bucket-list experiences. I felt lucky because i saw it for 4 times and i swam for 25 minutes in one of them! It was enough to say: i did it! Resisting the urge to touch them or to use flash photography….

An extremely well run wildlife interaction company. The boat crews were excellent and the spotters did an awesome job finding the sharks for us. We paid for a boat to ourselves (crew only plus guide and us). It was well worth the extra money as, if our boat headed to where there were too many others, we just said "no... More

I just recently visited Donsol to see the sharks. It was definitely an amazing experience. Just be careful. We tried to find out the real price of the trip but it wasn't easy. We booked the trip from our hotel in Legazpi and that was a mistake. The boat trip (with 6 people on board) should cost only round 800... More

Just returned after 2 days swimming with the whales for over 3 hours each day. Lost count of how many we saw but the largest was 10+ metres. Varying depths and many surfaced. Saw manta ray, sea snakes and lots of jellyfish. Had a boat for 3 on both days. Recommend that people do an afternoon dive to familiarise with... More

Travelled to Bicol with our two kids (aged 10 and 8) and some relatives. Swimming with the whale sharks was such an amazing experience that our kids are requesting that we do it again! We went in April and were very fortunate that we had multiple sightings.

I admire the professionalism shown by the authorities and staff. The orientation video is informative. My captain of the day was Charlie with Renan as my BIO on the boat. Renan took the extra effort to make sure everyone got to spend time with the whale shark. He also took extra care with the guests who have a fear of... More

This is an absolut must when you visit the Philipines and especially the area around Donsol. You can amazingly close, without any danger - hire a guide and his boat crew, and they'll do all they can to spot the Whale Sharks. You can easily wait and hire them, when you get there. But be there in the morning and... More
