After 2 hours in the ocean and a failed attempt, one whale shark was spotted. When we were told to go down from the banca and look down the water I couldn't find it. Until I raised my head a bit and wow! Its mouth was just about 2 meters away and is swimming towards me! I literally froze in... More

We booked directly at the tourist centre because it is way cheaper than booking at the hotel or a tour company. We went in the morning and we didn't see anything. We went again in the afternoon because the tour was so cheap but we didn't see anything. It was cloudy and the water was not clear. It was also... More

We visited in December when the season for viewing/feeding in the area is just starting. We waited patiently for an hour or so before we managed to get our first sighting. Without a doubt, this was an INCREDIBLE experience and I was lucky enough to have our spotter grab my hand and drag me to exactly where the butanding was... More

Nothing so much to share except not to keep your hopes too high as there is no assurance that one will be able to have that much coveted experience swimming with the whales. The boatmen likewise averred that the decline in being able to spot a whale shark was due to the incessant feeding of the whales somewhere in Cebu... More

On a budget you have to be realistic that you may not see a whale shark so therefore may need several trips out. If you go later on in the day once spotting a shark has already happened then you'll be okay. The problem with this is how busy it gets. The sharks can have a lot of people around... More

Did 3 boat trips out from the Butanding (Whale Shark) Interaction centre on two separate days and came to naught. It was a 3 to 4 hours boat ride out at sea in search for sightings of Butanding. The season was said to be between March and May. It could be the tail end of the season where the sightings... More

The whale sharks were amazing. But the 30 people around the shark was just a crowd scene. As we were on a private trip (2 persons on the boat) our 'dive master' kindly elbowed other swimmers out of the way for our 2nd dive (as we were kicked by other divers for the 1st,not through lack of courtesy: just through... Last May 2, we went to see the whale sharks at 10am. There were 3 brief sightings but since there were 20 people in the water our group and others weren't able to get in the water. After these quick sightings the currents were stronger and no butandings showed up fo the next 3 hrs. 3500+ down the drain. So,... More

This is my first time to snorkel in the middle of the sea... so I was a little nervous but excited to experience seeing the "butanding" or whale shark in close encounter.... Together with friends, we headed to the sea around 10:30 am. We were only able to sight 1 butanding after almost 1 and 1/2 hours in the sea.... More
