This was a great trip! We were only 5 in the boat because it is low season and we saw 4 different shark whales. We went into the water over 10 times to dive/snorkel with the sharks and it was amazing!

We like the beach and the coral reef. We are disappointed we did not see the Big Whales because it is the month that were seldom seen though few visitors saw famous whales in the area.

Usually, the given time for butanding search is 3 hours. But it's not always a guarantee that when you leave the shores of Donsol towards the sea, you will find these playful mammals. We had a crew of four: two spotters, boat driver and guide. We left at 7:00 in the morning and we spotted a few whale sharks. The... More

Twice I did this, first with friends, we drove from Tacloban to Donsol, second time a few years after, with the Regional Development Council. The first time I went with my friends, we got a very good guide because we asked around at our resort who the best guide and spotters were, so we requested for them the night before.... More

After 2 hours in the ocean and a failed attempt, one whale shark was spotted. When we were told to go down from the banca and look down the water I couldn't find it. Until I raised my head a bit and wow! Its mouth was just about 2 meters away and is swimming towards me! I literally froze in... More

We booked directly at the tourist centre because it is way cheaper than booking at the hotel or a tour company. We went in the morning and we didn't see anything. We went again in the afternoon because the tour was so cheap but we didn't see anything. It was cloudy and the water was not clear. It was also... More

We visited in December when the season for viewing/feeding in the area is just starting. We waited patiently for an hour or so before we managed to get our first sighting. Without a doubt, this was an INCREDIBLE experience and I was lucky enough to have our spotter grab my hand and drag me to exactly where the butanding was... More

Nothing so much to share except not to keep your hopes too high as there is no assurance that one will be able to have that much coveted experience swimming with the whales. The boatmen likewise averred that the decline in being able to spot a whale shark was due to the incessant feeding of the whales somewhere in Cebu... More

On a budget you have to be realistic that you may not see a whale shark so therefore may need several trips out. If you go later on in the day once spotting a shark has already happened then you'll be okay. The problem with this is how busy it gets. The sharks can have a lot of people around... More

Did 3 boat trips out from the Butanding (Whale Shark) Interaction centre on two separate days and came to naught. It was a 3 to 4 hours boat ride out at sea in search for sightings of Butanding. The season was said to be between March and May. It could be the tail end of the season where the sightings... More
