The whale sharks are only to be seen, usually between March - May. As Donsol pretty much closes down, tourist wise, for 6 months of the year, the locals are so far unaffected by tourism. And they are lovely people. After a 10 minute video presentation, before your tour, on how we look after the sharks, by only allowing 6... More

First of all to those who are dismayed that they didn't chance upon these gentle giants, they are in the wild unlike the whale sharks in OSLOB that are fed with planktons. It's more satisfying seeing them swim freely than seeing them stay in a place in upright position feeding like a hungry dog. And they will tell you(BIOs, guides)... More

Although Donsol is hard to get to, it is well worth it. Visited mid April, saw 4 whalesharks. The visibilty was not great but you could still see the whole fish. It is a bit like extreme snorkling, the group (6 people) sit on the edge of the boat and wait for the "GO GO GO". The you head to... More

We went to see the whale sharks on 3 different days and swam with them on 2 days. The boats are very organised and drop you in front of the whale sharks with a team leader who guides you all the time for the best experience .The Whale Sharks swam very close to us within 2 metres and were absolutely... Over 2 days we interacted around 12 times with 6 whale sharks. It was such an amazing experience and one we will certainly do again. We booked through eco tours who looked after everything for us. The guide was in our view, more experienced than the others on both days, putting us in spots away from the other boats as... More

We arrived in Donsol on April 20, 2015 and at 830am, after the briefing and video viewing, we're already on our boat ride in the middle of the sea. Within 5 min of the ride, we were told by our boat guide to wear our mask and flippers and jump to the water. As he shouted "look down"! lo and... More

I had a wonderful experience swimming with "Butanding" or the Whale Sharks, not one but 5. The boat guide, Joel, was excellent. He led us to very close encounter with the giants without touching them. The management of the Donsol Whale Shark Center is so wonderful and truly a good example of Eco-tourism. The only reason I did not give... More

Swimming with the largest fish in the sea was on my bucket-list experiences. I felt lucky because i saw it for 4 times and i swam for 25 minutes in one of them! It was enough to say: i did it! Resisting the urge to touch them or to use flash photography….

An extremely well run wildlife interaction company. The boat crews were excellent and the spotters did an awesome job finding the sharks for us. We paid for a boat to ourselves (crew only plus guide and us). It was well worth the extra money as, if our boat headed to where there were too many others, we just said "no... More
