The Ninja house with trap doors, weapon chambers etc are explained nicely by the female-guide. The museum has lot of good info on Ninjas and their way of life. The Ninja show is quite exciting! Overall it was a great experience for us.

As everyone has said, it's a loooooong way away and frankly quite simplistic. But my kids and I enjoyed it still. The show was the best, although you really miss out if you don't speak Japanese. The presenter chatted extensively and seemed humorous because the audience frequently broke out in laughter. The stunts are indeed cheesy and the deliberately so,... More

The musuem is pretty small and the admission fee though still reasonable, is considered expensive compared to other museums in Japan and the size of the place. Worth the visit only if you have extra time and want to do something different other than visiting shrines and temples in Kansai.

I'm always fascinated by the mysterious ninjas and decide to make a day trip from Kyoto to Iga to visit the birthplace of Iga Ninjas. It took us about 2.5 hours and 4 trains to reach the park. The museum is quite small. When first entered, there was an demonstration by lady "ninja" showing all the different hidden doors and... More

Your day would starts very early as a Ninja in order to catch the early train, change at least 3 trains from Namba in order to reach Ueno-shi. The staff at the train station are very helpful to give you a map and show you the direction, I think 99% of the tourist go there is asking for ninja museum.... More

Reserve a whole day for this event. Not that the museum itself takes that long but the town itself is so far away that you need to give yourself a good amount for travel time. Call ahead or email to ask them when the shows are. When we went, there were 3 ninja shows starting at 11, 1:30, 2:30. We... More

The place is difficult to get to and definitely not worth the hassle. When I arrived, I was the only one there and the guide had maybe been in the job too long and very unenthusiastically explained (in fast Japanese) about the house. The tour was very quick and the ninja show wasn't being performed that day. The signs for... More

Our group of 4 had 2 Japanese speakers within it. This made translating the tour part easier to understand. Occasionally there were pull down scrolls which seemed to summarise what had been spoken about in to English. However, I would suggest that the summarised scrolls only covered only about 20% of what had been spoken about. I guess we would... More

or for kids interested in Ninja. I got there while visiting the castle. They have a pretty good exhibition of Ninja tools of trade so to speak, with signs in English. I didn't watch the show though.

I suspect if you're researching this venue, then you are after something a bit more authentic than a theme-park type experience. The journey to the museum by train is part of that experience. As mentioned in other reviews, it is a long trip - four trains from Kyoto - but the hassle can be taken out of that by using... More
