Here is a totally different Japanese world, so far from the busy and noisy Tokyo and Kyoto…here is the famous Nakasendo (Central Mountain Route), the alternative route for Tokaido (Eastern Sea Route) between Edo (Tokyo today) and Kyoto, one of the 5 routes of the Edo period (1603-1868). The service provided by the owners, a mature japanese couple was very good and welcoming. The food was very simple, healthy and balanced. We were the only ones staying at the time, maybe because of winter, so we had the place just for ourselves. We woke up every morning at 6 for meditation with the monk, who does all the... More
