The sanctuary is 22 Kms from Solapur. The last few Kms road is pretty bad....not maintained for years. Entrance fee for Two persons + car was Rs.160. You need immense luck and patience to sight the Great Indian Bustard ( Maldhok in Hindi). We spent a few hours in the morning and again between 4:00 PM and 6:30PM in the... More

This is fantastic place for birders, One can cover grassland species here....Sandgrouse, Quails, Larks, Indian Coursers, Great Indian Bustard, Red Collered and Eurasian Doves. Also Black Bucks and Monitor Lizards, and Raptors such as Laggar Falcon, Bonnellis Eagle,etc

You have to leave your vehicle outside the entry gate and walk inside. The watchtower to the left of the entrance offers a bird's eye view of the sanctuary. A narrow path leads from the gate to the viewing hut. The narrow slits cut into the wall on three sides offer a low view of the forest. There are benches... More
