I don't know how they can charge £9.50 per ticket when the journey only lasts 10 mins each way, at the other end there is a cafe and a childeren's play area apart from that there is nothing to do but go walking, it is sold that you can spend all day on the train as its a all day... More

A litle narrow-guage railway that would be at home in north Wales - somehow landed in north Cornwall instead! Not a long ride, or particularly dramatic scenery - but plenty of the character you'd only get with a narrow-guage railway. Cafe, museum, shop - all the usual things. We came here during school term time and found it not very... More

Over a year ago since I last visited, but will endeavour to make my annual 'pilgramage' later this year!. The railway based on narrow gauge is run by very respected and dedicated owners and enthusiastic staff. The 'shop' on the main platform at Launceston is well worth a visit and has iin fact got to be visited to purchase your... More

You don't need to have children with you to visit this lovely narrow gauge railway attraction! There were several older 'steam enthusiasts' there on the day we went over the Easter holiday, and we can understand why - you really need to visit if you are at all interested in trains. If you do have children accompanying you then they... More

Took my boys, 4 and 3 on the train up to Newmills today and they loved it! Friendly staff, lovely station, pretty ride up the valley.... Spent three hours at the brilliant Newmills and then got the train back. If you buy a return ticket before you leave you get half price travel which makes it great value. We loved... More

Nice little steam train with a fab kids park at the end at New Mills. Kids thought it was great. Indoor and outdoor train coaches.

The best thing is the scale - small children can ride virtually on the footplate (get a set in tyhe carriage next to the loco) and in the open carriages get the sound, smell, feel and even tasteof steam traction. It is not cheap, but nor is running a steam railway, and i think it worth the price. For children... More

Mr Beaching has a lot to answer for, just a remnant left how good would it be to be able to travel on these small railways that joined up the villages so that we could leave the car at home. Just a small part left enjoy the ride and help keep it going.
