We visited with our 3 yr old son and my husbands parents, having visited before we knew what to expect and the Launceston Steam Railway and the avid volunteers did not disappoint. We enjoyed a lovely ride through the Cornish countryside and the volunteers spoke to both our son and my father in law about the engines and the railway.... More

The staff (volunteers) are clearly passionate about the railway and in preserving its history which is fantastic. The journey is short, perhaps a couple of miles, through very pretty countryside. It was just the right length of time for our toddler. He loved shouting "toot toot" each time the whistle went!

this attraction has the potential to be brilliant, but with few volunteers they are not able to upkeep the railway. the museum is interesting, and the staff are friendly, the café is nostalgic, but the ride is fairly short, and the newmills childrens attraction at the end of the line is very expensive, and if you have children with you... 7 of us from 5 to 72 had a great day out on the railway.A pretty ride through the countryside. Reasonably priced and you can ride up and down all day if you want to. If you get off at the other end there is a small farm park again reasonably priced. At the station end there is a cafe,... More

Kids live this sort of thing and this train ride was just perfect. Great little train with fab views. Lovely little museum with more items hidden around the corner! The drops you off (if you want to get out) outside a farm. The farm isn't included in the price but is also great old fashion fun for the kids. All... More

This was our second visit to the railway and we enjoyed it as much as the first. The children particuarly had a great time. We also had a cup of tea and great home made cakes in the tea room. You are able to take pushchairs on the train, there are baby change facilities in the toilets and highchairs in... More

The Launceston Steam Railway is run by a great bunch of enthusiasts. The trains are lovingly restored and chunter up and down a beautiful Cornish valley. What a great way to spend a few hours. The cafe and shop are fantastic as well. The collection of old cars and bits and pieces is really good. Don't miss this great little... More

If you like railways, particularly little ones, this train is definitely worth catching. It's a family visit really so if you are a 'senior' don't expect quiet 'nostalgia'. Lots to see and do and the most of the staff are enthusiastic about providing a good day out for visitors. A pleasant, if rattling ride, through the countryside brings you to... More

A very nice way to spend the day with children. The trip with the steam train was excellent and we took full advantage of the fact that you can take as many trips as you like during the day. It's obvious that there's just enough money for maintenance of the trains and track, but that doesn't spoil the fun. What... More

I thought it was overpriced for what is provided, the ride is fun but it is often very overgrown and the views are not great. The folks running the railway might benefit from some customer service training as I wondered if they were working for the visitors or just for their own interests? Farm park at the end of the...
