Lovely half day out

Went on the steam train today and really enjoyed it as did my 4 year old. Was hoping there would be more at the other end but we went to the farm park and that was nice. Lots for... read more

We decided to visit the railway on a drizzly day and it was a lovely day out. We had 3 children aged 2-5 who all loved it. The staff are incredibly friendly and happy to answer any questions. We had a quick cuppa at the station before catching the train. The trip lasted 15-20 minutes and was really pretty. It... More

Excellent ride in a nearly open coach, allowing a great view along the track ahead. Lilian, a slate mine loco, I think, was an interesting engine to watch. The museum at Launceston with old commercial vehicles was good, and the "priory ruins" shed with the vertical boilered engine interesting for all 3 of us. Very friendly "staff", volunteers, I guess,... More

What a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. The actual journey is only 15-20mins each way but w visited the farm at the far end of the line to make an afternoon of it! The toddlers loved the ride and the pretty views of fields and animals. The lovely man that does the flags and whistle( not sure... More

The Launceston Steam Railway runs for two and a bit miles westward from its main station in Launceston to New Mills, a little station apparently in the middle of nowhere, but in fact serving the adjacent New Mills Farm Park. Many visitors combine these two attractions; others simply travel on the railway. The route was originally part of the London... More

Went on the steam train today and really enjoyed it as did my 4 year old. Was hoping there would be more at the other end but we went to the farm park and that was nice. Lots for my son to do. The ride itself was around 20 minutes, we found the train and the station very charming. No... More

Made my day visiting the fabulous railway owned by Karen and Nigel. Unique because they have a collection of Quarry Hunslets, one which was restored by Karen herself. I rode on the footplate and was given a tour of the workshops and sheds. Very friendly place to visit. Great café serving quality food. Altogether a place not to be missed

Years since I visited here... and its got better and better. .... A lovely place to visit for all ages.... and the all day travel with the ticket fee is an added bonus. The souvenir shop and the tea rooms has loads of choice.
