Things have changed so drastically in Ireland over the past 25 years and unfortunately, the way of life that existed in rural Ireland for centuries is rapidly disappearing. This museum shows how area residents used to live in the distant (and not too distant) past. The grounds features authentic thatched roof houses as well as folk art and photographs. More

Lovely Experience - interesting to see how people lived in Ireland right up to the not-so-distant past. Very friendly staff and spectacular scenery around and about. Make sure to visit if you're in the area for the Cliffs or beaches. More

My husband and I have gone to Glencolmcille every year for the past 17 years. Our favorite attraction has always been to just experience the area . If you drive as far as you can on the north side of town, and walk the rest of the way to the top of the mountain, past one of St Colmcille’s wells,... More

The Glencolmcille Folk Village lies at almost the most westerly point in Europe! The three little cottages have been recreated to represent what the homes must have been like 100, 200 and 300 years ago. There is also a little school house and a separate museum showing video presentations and explaining the archeological history of the place. The tea house... More

This recreated village has three houses circa 1700, 1800, and 1900 and a local history exhibit. Very well done for such a remote place. The gift shop has quite a bit to choose from, too. I'd rather give my money to them than an overpriced place in Dublin or Galway. More
