Important part of Croatian history. Must see

I'm Croatian, so I appreciate the historical and cultural importance of the sword dance. Definitely not for those whose idea of culture boils down to Hollywood blockbusters ;)

The dancing involves about 20 men in costume and a live band. The dancing looks exhausting and they are not messing about - when the swords clash there are sparks flying. Not to be missed!

This is absolutely superb. The dancers are so skilled it is mesmerising. Also on were a group of singers who were fabulous. Well worth paying to see - a once in a lifetime experience I will always remember.

My husband was a bit reluctant to go to this as folk dancing not really his "scene" but he loved it! The dancing was spectacular, so fast & well timed & the participants really looked like they meant to kill each other, in fact, some small children at the front started to cry! The music, costumes & the setting - in... More

The Moreška is a dance depicting a battle between two kings for a kidnapped princess. It is an old Mediterranean tradition which has been performed in the area for hundreds of years, and while it used to be done everywhere from Morocco to Spain, it is now only performed on Korčula. The performance opens with an a cappella sextet singing... More

A friend I was travelling with was really keen to see this, I'm glad she was else I might not have seen it. It really was something quite special - the setting (in the city walls), live music, costumes and obvious passion of the performers for the dance really bought it alive. The dance is unique to the island and... More

Great sword fight in costume. blood may be drawn, beware! Looks exhausting for the swordsman. A tradition that is alive only in Korcula!

This was a fabulous and very local experience as the heritage of old Korcula is brought to life through these amazing young men.
