Nice scenery

There is parking right by the lake on a main road which is probably the closest you can park...and just walk down or around the lake.

Lake Bassenthwaite, the only body of water called a lake in the Lake District, is quite pretty when you can get close to it, which requires stopping at one of the few points you can park nearby. With Skiddaw mountain in the background and Keswick beyond its foot, it is a pleasant place to be. Very peaceful and good for... More

Lovely lake. The reflections of the mountains are superb, especially if the is no wind. You can walk here but it is a few miles from the main road and it is better if you go by car. Nearby is Bassenthwaite Village. The local pub is The Sun. Great food. Typical English village. Farms, small chapel, small stream with ducks.... More

From Ravenstone Manor hotel, we walked around part of the shoreline and found it a beautiful contrast to the mountain walks we'd done before. It was low season, so very quiet but it looks as though that part is pretty unspoilt anyway.

Had a brilliant walk round the Lake. A lovely easy walk for any age. A welcome pub at the end or an ice cream!

We started our visit to Lake District from here. A beautiful lake, but not a must see. If you are at leisure, then good place for boating. Driving in Lake District through the scenic hillocks is an experience.

Well worth a visit at Blackstock point. Ability to go down to the waters edge, walk around the lake and take in the beautiful scenery with limited tourism which is seem around some of the other larger lakes.
