Quiet and peaceful lake

like the lack of tourists and the lovely walks including a visit to the lakeside church. The mountains provided constant colour changes throughout the day.

Lovely area, scenery is wonderful and access to other parts of the lake district easy. If interested in wildlife then lots to see. The peace and quite is wonderful. Lots of walking if you are up to it.

A very pretty lake and off the beaten track. You can walk down to the lakeside - there is s signed footpath.

This is a lovely quieter part of the Lake District not far from Keswick and en route to Cockermouth. The Lake District is our favorite area in England for cycling, hiking, pub visiting etc. All of the scenery in this area is breathtaking.

Not easy to access the lake but when there it is possible to walk along most of the periphery. Beautiful location

Lovely scenery, lots of wildlife (red squirrels, ospreys nesting) Away from the peak season traffic in the towns

A very interesting visit for whisky lovers and non drinkers alike. Staff are enthusiastic and friendly. The bistro is good value and provides excellent food.

Lake Bassenthwaite, the only body of water called a lake in the Lake District, is quite pretty when you can get close to it, which requires stopping at one of the few points you can park nearby. With Skiddaw mountain in the background and Keswick beyond its foot, it is a pleasant place to be. Very peaceful and good for... More
