Went on a Friday which is the longest mail delivery so we had a full day's cruise. We saw dolphins on both the outbound and return legs of the journey and enjoyed Bindy and Skipper Jim's informative commentary. Take your own picnic to eat on board and, if you want, try steering the boat. See surprising locals of the 4... More

This is a good trip - it gives you some idea of how huge the area is and what different sounds are accessed from Havelock. The crew are great - the commentary is informative and we enjoyed learning about the history of the area and how it has changed. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided but you need to take... More

We booked our Mail Boat trip before leaving Australia. As luck would have it, the day was terrible - pouring rain and gale force winds. After discussing it with Jim the Owner/Skipper we cancelled the trip. It did not cost us anything despite the late cancellation. After reviewing our plans, we decided to take the trip a few days later.... More

We booked on the strength of the reviews on TA and had a great day out. You get EXACTLY what is described so I fail to understand the negative review. On our trip there were people of many ages and they all seemed happy! We did manage to see some penguins; wild life doesn't appear to order!!! Jim and Bindy... More

We had a really interesting Thursday trip round The Sounds and Jim & Bindy couldn't have been more welcoming or informative. They slowed to show us Gannets and Blue Penguins, stopped for us to take a short bush walk and even offered towels if we wanted to take a dip; it was a great day out with somebody else doing... My fiancee and i were really looking forward to this cruise after reading so many positive reviews on trip advisor but we were let down. we booked the "wild run", which said things like "see dolphins, seals, penguins". I think this is pretty misleading, we saw 4 penguins in the sea and nothing else. Although seeing dolphins or other animals... More

As the owner and skipper on the boat I am quite shocked at receiving this review. It has caused quite a few sleepless nights trying to think through what we could have done wrong to get such a poor review and what in our advertising could have given you the wrong impression of what we do. We were given a... More

On state highway 1 south of Havelock there is well known Pelorus Bridge with a cafe and camping ground, BUT 600 mitres before this on the write going south is a little gem! It's a doc picnic area with an amazing elevated view of the gorgeous river, a grassed area with trees to shade under PLUS a swimming hole to... More

We had been told about this by a friend and booked it a few months in advance of our trip. It seemed expensive initially but was worth every penny. The boat departs on selected days at 9.30 and returns about 5pm. The lunch stop was only 30 minutes so you will be on the water all day. The skipper Jim... More
