We were looking for somewhere for a week of rest and relaxation and the Tides was recommended by a friend. I cannot praise this hotel enough. We flew into Dar es Salaam and after that the travel arrangements were made by James and everything went like clockwork. I would recommend the private plane option to get you to the Tides... more

Travel agent suggested Tides in Tanzania. Called owner (James) and he arranged accomodations for my wife and two daughters along with other Hotel Accomodations on Zanzibar island. Tides hotel was fantastic! Breath taking scenery, fine cuisine, great service, beaufitul decorated cottages with ample room. It was a well deserved break from all the hustle and bustle of the major cities... more

My husband and I stayed at the Tides for ten days as our first "stop" on our first trip back to Africa together in thirty years. The Tides set a standard that was unmatched throughout the rest of our trip. The lodge is located on a wide, warm, welcoming stretch of white sand on the Indian Ocean. It's almost impossible... more

Though I'd love to keep this gem a secret, more people deserve to know about this wonderful getaway. It was the perfect place to spend the last 3 days of our trip to Tanzania. The beachfront bungalows are spacious and serenely decorated ... made all the more fabulous with eye-candy ocean views and the soothing sound of crashing waves. The... more

What can you say about the Tides that will actually do this place justice? We were very lucky to have had The Tides recommended to us at all as we had booked another hotel which had closed for renovations due to a fire so we were stepping into the unknown. We need not have worried. James, Alex and little Henry... more

Our first visit to Africa, travelling with 2 children and understandably rather nervous. What one hopes for is friendliness, local knowledge and professionalism and that's exactly what we got at The Tides Lodge. The location of this wonderful series of lodges was as close to paradise as we could imagine. The coconut palms really did grow out of golden sands that... more

We will never forget our stay at The Tides. We were collected from the local airstrip and driven to the bar and restaurant where an evening meal and tropical cocktails awaited us. The sea was only a few feet away from us and the children sampled the warm waters within seconds. During our stay, nothing was too much trouble for... more

I am just back in England after a fantastic fortnight staying at The Tides Lodge in Tanzania. What a wonderful place to relax. The chalets are on the beach, roomy well fitted out, even the shower works properly, and you are kept comfortable by the breeze right off the sea. Nothing better than watching the sunrise while swimming in the... more

After a week of (tiring camping) safari, we have spent six nights at The Tides Lodge (run by the nice British couple James and Alex, that can btw help you plan your to-and-away trip and can even plan your whole Tanzania trip including safari's etc) . We travelled to the property by public transport from Arusha @ $40 2p total... more

We spent 5 nights at The Tides Lodge after our safari in Tanzania. This is a true 'get away from it all' holiday and if you want to just relax this is a great place to do it ! The staff was excellent and nothing was too much trouble, what they lacked in sophistication they made up for with a... more
