We have just returned from a 2 week trip travelling around Iceland and I had tried to book fairly luxurious accommodation as the holiday was based around my husband's 40th birthday. We did manage to stay in some quite nice accommodation but the number of high quality hotels in Iceland appears to be very low. We particularly struggled to find... more

If you enjoy spending $250.00 + per night at a shabby hotel and spending $16.00 for a bowl of soup, then this place is for you! I had the unfortunate experience of staying here for one night in May! When I called for a quote, they told me $165.00 per night and then charged me more upon check out. Shabby... more

Another nice waterfall, catching a rainbow. The nice surprise was the museum, very cute, we were as delighted as the children. more

This is a very small hotel right near the Skogar waterfall and we loved being able to walk up to the waterfall in the evening after our meal. The rooms were quite basic, but very comfortable. The TVs in the rooms were not working while we stayed there (much to our 12 year old son's disappointment). Outside the hotel was... more

All the Hotel Edda group are actually school dormitories during term time. Well this is the best boarding school accommodation I've ever seen! The hotel itself is one of very few buildings in Skogar, which is a tiny village. From the Edda Skogar, you can walk to the Skogafoss waterfall and as far as you want to along the mountain... more

If travelling near Skogar look out for a sign to Seljavellir. Its a small 1 star pool in a 5 star mountain setting. Either park at the modern pool or cross the small ford to the end of the field. Then its a 10 min walk along the path. The pool and changing facilities are very basic but the setting... more

Basic budget hotel but good location, within 10 mins of the waterfall and good base for other attractions including the Glacier, Laki and Seljavellier pool. Food very good but expensive - can eat more cheaply at the Folk Museum which is open to 6.30. more

this hotel is a small and quaint little place in South Iceland, about 30 min west of Vik and adjacent to the amazing Skogar waterfall. it has a very small number of rooms, each different and quite comfortable. the hotel is owned by the same company that owns Hotel Ranga (a more famous location). the on-site restaurant is quite good... more

We did not stay at the Edda Hotel in Skogar (although that is where the main bus stop is located and the Edda staff seemed very friendly when we stopped in for snacks while waiting for our bus), but there is not a listing for the Hotel Skogar, so I'm writing here. Hotel Skogar has an excellent website that makes... more
