We stayed at the Captain Cook Hotel for one night before our train to Seward and cruise ship. Staff was really exceptional, we had room in tower three with great view of city, newly furnished room. We stayed here July 4-11, 2009. We were very comfortable and pleased with the great pillows, duvets, and the apartment feel. The suite was upscale, with granite countertops in the "kitchenette", wood floors, leather couch and flat screen TV's. It didn't lose it's home away from home appeal though. We loved the breakfasts! What a surprise - we'd seen so many wheeled dog sled rides offerings along the way, decided to stop by the headquarters and were delighted - the headquarters/gift shop was run by nice people, they have the REAL (stuffed) Balto/Togo, the video they offer (free) was educational and interesting, the $10/person sled ride was best we'd seen - and staffed... more
