We visited the Old Montana State Prioson while passing through Deer Lodge. It was a really unique experience. The prison was built in 1871 and operated as a state prison until the late 1970's. We stayed at this hotel on our way through Deer Lodge. It was formerly a Super 8 and recently was taken over by Rodeway Inn (part of Choice Hotels). We payed $71 total with AAA.
