we were to stay in silver city for 2 days Unfortunately with the economic downturn silver city had limited downtown activies and many shoppes were closed for 2 - 3 days. We informed the managment that we would not be staying for both days and we were informed of their cancellation policy -No refund oreven partial refund was offered, though I... more

Real character place, not luxurious but great fun and very reasonably priced. A real bit of mining history. We ate at Diane's (contrary to earlier comments it was just about the only place open!) About 10 minutes walk, left out of hotel and left at junction, then on opposite side of road. Good food at reasonable prices. Parking at the... more

We stayed for valentines day and had a blast. Very much the B&B with rooms opening into a central living area. Artwork was Santa Fe meets Smithsonian wonderful. Felt like we had free admission to a high end art show everyday. Breakfast was basic, but very good. Our host was spot on with every piece of advice he gave about... more

If you value a good night's sleep, this isn't the place for you. The rooms though rustic are reasonably clean and comfortable. We feel asleep with our window open to the cool mountain air and chirping of crickets. Around 11:30 pm we were jolted awake by a salvo of loud music and conversation. The source of the distubance was a... more

We found this place off of College and decided to give it a shot. (I was starving after my unsuccessful two-hour search for Spaghetti Western.) There wasn't a huge selection compared to the buffetts I've been to in other, larger cities. However, the food tasted great. It wasn't the usual bland, starchy stuff that's usually served at larger Chinese buffett... more

Okay, so we couldn't find much open downtown at 8:30 on a Saturday night, but this place had someone performing live, so we decided to try it. The music was bad, but the food was great. They have made to order chips! Yup, they fry up thick-cut potato chips when you order and serve them with ketchup. Brilliant! :) I've... more

Unfortunately, we were served by a man there who was not very friendly. I don't know if he smiled the whole time we were there. On the other hand, the ice cream is AWESOME! I had the strawberry and my mom had the lemon. Both were deeeeeeelish! more

My mom and I tried for two hours to find it using the address listed on this site and the address listed on her GPS, used N, S, E, & W prefixes for both streets and still never found it. When we finally stopped and asked someone walking down Texas street downtown we were told it was on the same... more

Great museum. Lots of history set in a beautiful historicale home. There was an exhibit of wedding dresses when we went that was kind of fun and different. The stairs were smaller than my feet, so while going up was hard, coming down the steep, narrow stairwell was harder! LOL! If you are willing to go up though, there are... more

My mom and I spent one night here and had lots planned to do in Silver City. I have to say though, I wish we could have spent more time in the hotel. It was comfy, clean, and had (almost) everything we needed. I say almost because there wasn't a refrigerator or microwave in the room for our yummy leftovers.... more

Our room at the Palace Hotel was anything except 21st century convenience. The toilet and bathtub finishes were peeling and there was a bathroom sink in the bedroom and another bathroom sink in the living room! There was a hole in the ceiling of the bathroom with a flue cover that had holes in it, during the day you could... more

Bear Mountain Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. Everything they do is done well. The lodge is attractive, inviting and well-equipped. The dining area is inviting and comfortable with adjoining library/gift shop area. Our room upstairs in the lodge was large, with king bed, couch, desk area and easy chair not to mention the balcony outside our room. Bathroom... more

My wife and I book ed a room at the Bear Mountain Lodge for a five-night stay in southwestern New Mexico. What a great place! The inn complex has been through many incarnations, but most recently was donated to The Nature Conservancy when the last innkeeper retired a decade ago. TNC has renovated and updated the lodge into a beautiful,... more

More than a hidden gem, Shevek & Co. is an unbelievable find - and in of all places Silver City. Everything about the restaurant experience here was phenomenal. A highly creative Middle Eastern menu with dishes that can be ordered in tapas, mezze or entree sizes, we suggest you dine on tapas so you can taste a wide variety of... more

The service was terrible, but they had a band that made it a much nicer experience. We had to track our waiter down (meaning get up and go find him) for a menu, to order and to get our bill. The food was eatable, but nothing to write home about and the meals were somewhat expensive $17+. When we received... more

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on our recent holiday in the southwest. We appreciated the fact that the hotel is out of the city core but not so far out that you feel too far from anything. We went for a suite as we needed to have a fridge in the room for our food and icepacks.... more

I hadn't been to Silver City in about 15 years and was impressed with the renewal that has taken place in the old downtown area. The Palace Hotel is right in the center of the renewed part of town. This is an old hotel that was constructed circa 1900. It has no elevator - but all the rooms are on... more
