The Nullagvik Hotel in Kotzebue is showing its age and getting ready to close, but the good news is that a new hotel is being constructed next door to replace it. No frills says it pretty well. "Nullagvik" means "a place to sleep," and by that scale this is much more than I expected. I did not expect color cable TV, phones, hair dryer, coffee maker, hot showers, and I wasn't too sure about electric lights although they were not needed. This hotel is a no frills type of place. The rooms are generally clean and usually have a comfortable bed. Considering the location, not a bad hotel. Built like a college dorm, the room was clean, the bed comfortable (no headboard!), and the shower hot with plenty of water.Rate seemed a bit pricey, but there is not much competition for hotels/motels in Kotzebue.On a side note, I am not crazy about multistory hotels that do not have elevators.Finally, it is... more
