This place was a very pleasant surprise! We had never been her before and went with 9 other couples on a golfing trip. I expected a basic mountain lodge but found a very nice hotel with many amenities. We stayed at Pipestem State Park on June 19-22. We stayed at the lower lodge, Mountain Creek. You have to ride the tram down which somewhat aggravating to adults with lots of luggage, but the children love it. You see tons of deer, coyotes, and turkey on the way down. there is a free breakfast at the lodge serving cereals,... more

West Virginia has possibly the best set up state park system in the US. Organisation and facilities are excellent and far surpass some of the big National Parks.
