After the other reviews I expected a dated and overpriced "wannabe resort." Completely the opposite. This is just a great place to relax and enjoy the gorge. Had a river view with fireplace (they have reasonable government rates). Spent the first night drinking beers and watching the sun go down in the adirondack chairs in the rear of the lodge.... more

In summary, we had a terrible stay at Skamania Lodge. We checked in at around 8:45pm on a Friday night, and were informed that the main restaurant would stop serving at 9am. So, we ate in the lounge, where the food wasn't great and the service matched. Please be aware that the rooms are out of date and in need... more

Great pizzas and calzones. Try one of their specialty pizzas like the Sweet Mellisa with Feta cheese, green onions and sun dried tomatoes. Also they sell slices so you don't have to order a whole pie. Also try their chili, really good on a cold day. Everything at Andrew's is really good. more

My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this weekend. I had attended a conference here several years ago, and wanted to go back with my sweetie. We arrived about 12:30 on Saturday. I had booked the basic, forest view, but the lovely woman at the registration desk offered us a free upgrade if we could wait an hour. Since... more

We always stop at the Bahma when we are in Stevenson or passing through. Wouldn't miss the good coffee, great food and wonderful people who work there. It's our favorite coffee shop anywhere. The shop is decorated in a funky fun way and there are alcoves to sit with friends and feel away from the rush. There is a beautiful... more

On our trip through the Columbia River Gorge, we visited four museums. This was the only one I would not recommend. It had a beautiful building and a few interesting exhibits, but that's all. The exhibits sounded impressive when the front desk rattled them off. But they were simply a few items and labels. There was no story of people... more

this resort property is among the finest I have stayed in bar none, it compares more than favorably to the Four Seasons Resorts I have previously visited. This was a business trip and the meeting facilities were superb and the staff hosting the metting (from the hotel) was able to accomodate the requests in short order, private dining was superb... more

We combined this with an excellent (surprisingly reasonable) lunch across the street at Skamania Lodge, for an excellent afternoon trip from Vancouver. Back in time for a movie and dinner. A very well-done museum, with something for everybody (cliche, I know). But seriously, an eclectic collection in an interesting piece of architecture. Very interesting community collection of photos and memorabilia... more

The Lodge had a spectacular view. It is very isolated the only thing closeby is a small town. the rooms are small and outdated especially the bathroom. the service was horrible. my room did not get cleaned until late in the afternoon. employees are rude! especially the females!!!! and never did i feel like i was a guest! poor service!... more

I stopped at the Big River Grill on January 19, 2009, on my way from the Portland, OR area to Spokane, WA. The waitress made me feel welcome and brought drinks right away. I ordered the grilled portobello mushroom sandwich and had the soup of the day, which was a salmon bisque. Both were very tasty and filling. The cost... more

Stayed there after friends told us that we would have a great time. The grounds were nice, however, the rooms were severely lacking. I'd have to describe the rooms from being far from opulent, not to mention our room was near the elevator. Felt far from rested in the morning. I'll have to come back to the area, but will... more

My husband and I stayed at Skamania Lodge Friday, January 23rd as a quick getaway close to home, but away from the kids, lol!! Using an online promotion, we were able to get a forest view superior room with a fireplace for $155, including all taxes and resort fees. Check in was seamless and friendly. If you plan on eating... more

We are from Portland & was on a work trip. We stayed here 2 nights & then the empty house we were working on 2 more nights. Staying here the 1st 2 nights really helped as the remodel was quite involved so the pool & spa was a great benefit to our backs. The front desk guy felt bad we... more

We had booked a Thanksgiving Day package arriving in mid afternoon. Check in went smoothly and our room was great. We took advantage of the surrounding trails and the outdoor hot tub. Everything went smooth and we had a great time. We had a 7:00pm reservation for dinner at the Cascade Room but stopped off at the River Rock Lounge... more

We stayed at the Lodge for two nights during a two week trip through the Pacific Northwest. Check-in was outstanding. The woman who greeted us was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the property and things to do in the area. Our guest room was nicely decorated but looked like every chain hotel room you've ever stayed in. The restaurant had... more

We are staying at Bonneville Hot Springs with kids. Just had dinner at El Rio. It was great. The flour tortillas are soft & fluffy, the green sauce the perfect amount of spice and the black beans & pinto beans are both pefectly spiced. Try the apple pie burrito & Tillamook ice cream for dessert. We recommend it! more

The Dog Lover's Companion to the Pacific Northwest highly recommends this lodge overlooking the Columbia River located at an expert-only launch site for windsurfers and kitesurfers. We studied the reviews at Trip Advisor and decided to go ahead with the one big cabin that sleeps 7 people -- rather than the smaller cabins with full size beds, understanding the fish... more

My wife said it best: "I'm glad we came, but I don't think we need to come back." I don't want to be totally negative about this place, so I'll say that this is the best resort in the Columbia River Gorge. However, it is also the ONLY resort in the Columbia River Gorge. Everything about Skamania Lodge is average:... more

We were introduced to Big River Grill by Joe from Skamania Lodge. The Big River Grill was welcoming and the food was what we expected of Amercian cuisine. We visited the grill on several evenings and the welcome was the same each time. Vacation from the UK to USA. We hope to come back and spend time in the restaurant... more

We had a nice room on the 2nd floor with a view of the river in the distance. Breakfast was not much - coffee very weak but the room was nice, clean and quiet and I enjoyed having such a nice view. We would definitely stay there again! more
