We stayed in this hotel for 4 days. The place is absolutely great (lost in the hills, surrounded by vineyards), very very very quiet. Rooms are clean , even if not decorated with the best of tastes. The owner is very helpful and can provide good tips to find restaurants, etc. I recommend the swimming pool with an incredible view... more

The Castello at Vicciomaggio is a wounderfull place to stay. My wife an i enjoyed 7 day in November. We found the staff very helpfull and friendly. The location makes it very easy to travel to Greve for shopping and traveling to the other mountain villages. We found the room very clean and all services to a very high standard.... more

Our family dined here in June 2009. We made a reservation (a must) but there was a mix-up so when we arrived there was no table for us. The staff apologised, gave us prosecco to drink while waiting, and had us seated in 10 minutes. The setting is gorgeous - you definitely want to go in nice weather and sit... more

Very nice place, close to Florence (30 minutes by car) and Sienna (45 minutes). Very quiet but small villages with great pizzeria and a few restaurants within 1,5 kilometres. Nice for hiking, relaxing and visiting the highlights of Tuscany. Clean swimming pool with nice lawn. Great for family holidays and pets are welcome. more

This restaurant was off the highway in Greve in Chianti. The restaurant was crowded but had plenty of tables. The food was excellent and the service was equally good. We had a pasta dish and a pizza dish and both were as good as some of the fancier restaurants we encountered in our travels through Tuscany. more

Riccardo and Niccoletta were more than host and hostess...they were the family in Italy that we didn't know we had! The views from our little apt s. Cresci were breathtaking...vineyards, olive groves, wild deer, and cypress! In the past, Mama and I have seen the sights of Italy, this time, thanks to Riccardo, we saw the real Italy...its people and... more

We stayed in apartment 'Il Cipresso'. The apartment was extremely clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Poggio alla Croce is a beautiful little village in an exceptional hilltop position - the view from the apartment terrace was magnificent with Firenze in the distance. The Becattini Family were welcoming and 'gentile' and the food in their restaurant was delicious. The local... more

Only superlatives for our trip to Tuscany that included a week's stay at Podere Campriano! Elena and her family run a first rate Agriturismo that is perfectly situated in the Chianti Classico Region of Italy. Good food, great wines, and a relaxing atmosphere made our stay there most enjoyable. Easy day trips to Pisa, Siena, Florence and San Gimignano were... more

We always try to achieve the "off the beaten path", "authentic" experience when we take our holidays. We spent 7 days of our 14 day trip here at Casa Mezzuola where we got exactly what we hoped for. Riccardo and Niccoletta do a terrific job making you feel at home. We stayed in the apartment Colognole. Beautiful accommodations on two... more

My husband and I stayed at Castello Vicchiomaggio for the 1st week of our honeymoon, at the end of July. And looking back, we would've easily exchanged our 2nd week stay in Amalfi coast to have stayed an extra week here! We decided to rent a car for the Tuscan portion of our trip (which I highly recommend if you... more

My adult daughter and I stayed two nights in October. Location is fantastic, very pleasant drive up a 5 km gravel road, great views and sunsets, lots of places to sit. Lovely old house. Rooms immaculate. We cooked a nice dinner from local products in the big kitchen one night. There is a wonderful bakery on the square downtown, don't... more

We stayed in the appartment for 10 days in May, when it happened to be very warm this year (around 35 C where 25C is more the usual in May). Nevertheless we had a great time here. The appartment was large with good facilities, clean enough, and very hospitable owners. Being a cyclist it was a great place to start... more

I can't really say that I was was as overly impressed with our meal. We went in mid-October and it was dark by the time we arrived down the long, gravel road. Luckily we decided to drive by that afternoon to get a sense of where it was rather than attempt to find it in the dark for the first... more

Ok, so.... just to warn you, the drive up the hill to get to Lamole is terrifying! Also, once you arrive at the restaurant there is very little parking. That said, it's still worth it. The view from the terrace tables is gorgeous, and the food is very good. Especially tasty were the appetizers we had: warm red onion w/... more

I first learned about Villa Vignamaggio from the Frommer's guidebook, and then looked up their website: www.vignamaggio.com. From the website I was able to contact them and make reservations. It is a hotel as well as a winery, so you can stay in paradise. But if you aren't staying there (which we weren't), you must make advance reservations to visit... more

I cannot say enough good things about the friendly service that we received at Corte di Valle. Our 4 nights at the villa were the highlight of our 2 week trip across Italy. The wine was great and we were treated extremely well. The innkeeper worked tirelessly to make sure that we were comfortable and well-fed. Great location for seeing... more

"Our apartment, Il Castagno and our stay at Poggio alla Croce was great. We stayed there for 5 nights, between 20th to the 25th September. The hardest thing was getting there and finding the place, but that is with most things in Italy. Danilo and his family were all very inviting, helpfull and hospitable. He even gave us our own... more

Il Castellaccio is in central Chiantishire so that visits to the whole area are easily possible. Firenze, Sienna and San Germiniano were all easy day trips. The owner, Leonardo, was very helpful. The only fault I can find is that you really had to drive everywhere, so that someone had to miss out on the tasting experience. more

What a great place to relax after two weeks doing the Rome/Amalfi coast trip. The brothers that own this family run hotel greeted us and they could not have been more wonderful. We stayed in the Grey room that overlooks the side street that was a little noisey in the morning but it was a good wake up call. There... more
